There are so many free or cheap alternatives that are better for learning and drilling.
look for gtypist, typing club, keybr, type-fu, type-racer, etc. Sorry Mavis You jumped the shark a long time ago.

It's not Mavis, It's Ultra Key. Mavis was fun and had cool typing games and such. This is boring typing software. Might as well get something just as good for free or cheap.

You're right. This does look like Ultra Key. This looks like more fun so far... http://store.steampowered.com/app/246580

Although I don't know which would actually be better at teaching you typing (as I do not have either product). I just know I'd be more inclined to stick with something that feels more like fun than work.

When I was learning how to type back when I was a kid, I had a game called MasterType on the Commodore 64. I liked that so much more than other typing tutorial programs because you were a wizard trying to defend a space station from alien invaders by typing certain words and phrases. It was certainly a lot more fun than just "type these words" or "type this phrase"... which is basically what you're doing anyway, disguised as a game.

They used a different engine to power their software. The other version was quickly losing compatibility and they needed something more compatible

The other versions are still being sold on the market as a value jewel case title. I'm sure you can find them at fairly well known stores.
