No gameplay=no sale
Yes I could go look up gameplay footage on my own, but the reason Steam has a video feature at all is so the developers can provide you with gameplay on the store page.

Went to the forums with the same idea in mind. Showing a pure non-game trailer on steam is not how the store is meant to be.

I have no problem searching for a game on my own. These Developers are trying to gain hype and gain money. The least they can do is link 1 video that shows gameplay.

Can only assume they are ashamed of it to an extent, otherwise they'd show it to us in spades. How else should a consumer take it? Who makes who here?

I agree that the developers are very lazy for not putting a single gameplay video that they presumably have dozens of at their disposal on their store page.

The thing is, I DON'T want to know anything about this game. There's nothing about it to make me want to know anything at all. I don't care about it, none of my friends have said anything about it, and I don't have any investment in it. The developers are presumably running a business here. They're supposed to be the ones who want me to know about their game. And if they want me to know about their game, they should put at least one gameplay video on their store page. Some games have three or more!

I'm going to have to agree with the OP here... :)

what? The flash animation that some Joe and Jack Jerkoff made doesnt do it for you?

I have to agree with the sentiments of the OP as well. If you can't even post a video of your game then it just seems as though you are ashamed of it. Its bad enough with the games that show pre-rendered CGI/cutscenes but this? I hate this... crap.
HERE HAVE SOME FLASH... LOOK THEIR HEAD MOVES! WEEEOEOEOEO!!

Wait... I was looking at a... game... or youtube?

Lazy? You spend possibly years working on a game then when you go to sell it you don't put any of that hard work in a video? That doesn't ring true with me. I am perfectly capable of looking it up if I wanted to but there is a video player in Steam for a reason and it's never a good sign when somebody doesn't want to show off years of work in a trailer. So get off your high horse and use your own brain.

I have to agree with everyone here that is disappointed about the trailer. It always gives me a bad feeling about a game when a trailer doesn't include any actual gameplay. Sure, you can look up plenty of letsplay videos, but it's just common sense that if a developer is proud of their product and confident it's a great game they would want to showoff the gameplay.

I don't think its lazy, i see it more as a red flag, why don't the developers want people to see the gameplay, this game might be great, or horrendous, without gameplay videos we cannot tell so people will not buy.

I have a big concern and IMMEDIATELY suspicious of any steam store item that doesnt have a meta score. and games like this keep popping up every day it seems. just POOF out of no where. ? really? where..wtf? did this come from? whats it about? theres only so many things to click on...im so teased, im like 1/4 erect just at the mention of the genre. so im looking around the net and forums to dig on it. but obviously its just a big stinky POS. simply has to be.
Megaflux Oct 27, 2013 @ 6:22am
+1 to the OP.

it should infact be LAW that the first video you see of ANY game is gameplay, be it as part of a trailer or just the straight poop. to try to say "google it" gets a big ole "go ♥♥♥♥ yourself" because if its that kind of day where im googling new games to play i will NOT be buying ANYTHING that is on steam, i will find some unheard of game that looks promising. 1/2 the point of having your game on steam IS for exposure, by not showing gameplay you are keeping the game unexposed.

its not our job as consumers to do anything but consume, we shouldnt have to SEARCH for gameplay videos, we shouldnt have to "develop a game" because developers are lazy, and we should not have to sit through ♥♥♥♥♥ calling us lazy for not being given the information that would convince us TO buy the games... thats like saying when in a car dealership its acceptable for the salesman to say "google it" when asked about safety features, MPG, or ANYTHING pertaining to said car.
