A stash ?

Is there a reason why theres no place to put your loot, so when you die you dont loose all of it ?

Yeah, the reason is that a stash would undermine the tension of trying to save up for something, which is the whole point of the loot dropping mechanic.

Since it's not communicated very effectively yet, are you aware that you only lose your loot if you die before recovering it? If so, are you finding that you're losing it often?

I haven't had any trouble recovering my loot if I die. Usually all it requires to get it back is a quick travel and to put a few spaniards back in the ground. Now if you had a time limit that would be fun, but also a little cruel. Players would be tearing their hair out worldwide.

I have lost some not alot,,I can live with that.I mean I can live with dieing, or something like that :)
