More enemies and weapons are a high priority at the moment I think.
1. The multiplayer they had in mind, with a number of players on the island that could work together or not to get fragments, but only one player could escape (at least I think it was them who said it this way)
2. Animals to hunt/ability to make your own campfire
Skills, Attributes and Gear all take away from that. I would be deeply disappointed if the devs were to put this in as it could make the game too easy.
Multiplayer. Co-op and Competitive is ideal and would be extremely fun. Co-Op; everyone (4 players) would scavenge across the world finding fragments and once you die, you cannot spawn back in. Competitive; 12 players fighting for fragments, permadeath as well or maybe trying to escape on a random island (everytime) would be fun. CPF doesn't seem like a good gamemode for this game, but I like the ambition.
Animals to hunt is already confirmed which sounds like a great idea.
Needs more weapons, tools/traps, resources, variety of environment and enemies as well as more gamemodes like Hardcore and Permadeath.
the fact that your alone seems important somehow
