Moving slowly generally seems to not do any harm (the damage is based on speed). This simulates the reality where you can actually get away from the wire by untangling yourself.

Thank you for letting us know. But it seems erratic (for me atleast). On most occasions, when trying to crawl (prone) under wires, I get tangled and die (could be that I am doing it wrong). REGARDLESS - it seems that two touches of the wire, from the sound that i hear, is all it takes to die. Most lethal barbed/razor wire ever !!! I'm all for the wire. Works well in the game but dare I suggest that maybe three or four seconds longer would give the entangled player a little more time to get free while trying not to get shot lol..

Developer, are you saying that moving slowly(walking/crouching/prone) through barbed wire will not kill you ? I seem to not be able to untangle myself when i'm caught in it and often die when i try to jump out of it. Any movement, while caught, seems to result in death. It just goes 'kling, kling' and you're dead. Trying to jump out of it does work quite often, though.

agreed i dont understand why you even die from barb wire, shouldnt it just slow you down and give you a few scratches

I agree with the above; I have only escaped the wire once in at least 20 tangles, and that was by jumping out of it. How do we slow our movemet to escape it?
Syrus 9 jan. 2014 às 12:46
Escaping is easy. Stop. Slowly back away, Jumping while entangled is an insta kill. Also, improved situational awareness to prevent getting caught in the first place.

Just would like to point out the latter is the most important; I once ran through a bush into wire and was mortified.

Second, please define slowly. I hit back, I die. I turn around and press forward, I die. This is while standing or crouching. Therefore, how do you go slowly?

Only way i tried so far and managed to get out is by jumping.
It's not instakill in my experience. Many times i've succesfully untangled myself by jumping.

agreed i have untangled my self by jumping, but sometimes it instakills me and also why is it like 2 seconds then die, its not enough time

It all depends on how much you move within the wire, if the distance is high enough you take more hits and die. What is possible to get out safely is "going slowly", meaning just tapping one of wasd instead of holding or to stop and regenerate in between the hits.

I agree that the deaths from barbed wire are ridiculous. The entire military application of barbed wire was to entangle advancing enemy soldiers so their progress was impeded and while struggling they would be spotting and shot, it was not intended to kill directly people.

So how would you use it in a way that improves the game? Have people stuck inside the wire till the end of the game or till they get shot? Even if it is not entirely realistic as it is now it still fulfills a part of the game-play in a reasonable manner.

I'd rather it kill me than have my player tangled in it for the entire length of the game, where you can't shoot due to being tangled and then the enemy just leaves you there to hang making their advance easier?

no it doesnt have to stop you completely just slow you
