Ross Rifle
I play as the canadians alot and i think they need something unique. their uniforms, weapons, and even the things they say are the same as the British ones and I know that is historically accurate but the thing that was unique to Canada was the Ross and it is missing. The ross would also be cool because it had a straight pull bolt and it was extremely accurate. Alot of people have said the ross wouldnt work because it was unreliable and replaced early on. It is true that the Ross's complicated mechanism made it jam alot but it wasnt replaced early on since there werent enough SMLEs for the Canadians until late 1916 and even when the canadians began to use the SMLE the ross was never completely replaced as Canadian snipers continued to use it and multiple countries including America used them for training.
PLUS the mp18 is in the game and it was used in MUCH smaller numbers than the Ross and only in the end of the war.
PLUS the chauchat is in the game and it was also very prone to jamming.
just because the Ross rifle was unreliable doesn't mean that it shouldn't be in the game it WAS used in the war no one can deny that!

ross rifle was ♥♥♥♥-tier and phased out within a year of canadian service, switching to the much more reliable lee enfield. please stop

it was phased out from frontline use within a year. The Canadian force didn't arrive in France till 1915, by the Battle of the Somme the Frontline Force was fully equipped with the SMLE. Before that the Canadian troops would ditch their Ross for a SMLE when ever they had the chance.

Unless they add a Commonwealth sniper don't expect it.

well i just thought it would make a good weapon specialist 4th tier weapon, then the webley with bayo can go over to 4th tier nco of canadians. Obviously in real life it was unreliable in the conditions. However, this is a game that has no jamming or anything, therefore, it would be fine.

but not fitting for an assault troop really :/

Canadians were extreme in this war. Everyone thinks as them as all smiles and syrup but them boom... War crimes and vimy ridge

To all those who says they shouldn't be in game, I guess you are happy with all the tommies running around with maxims?

Add them for lower tier canadian squads, then u unlock the SMLE later on.. brilliant idea because it the real war they started with the ross then went to SMLE when they could.

if they were running with maxims makes more sense as the Maxim gun is British. Also only 1 in 4 can equip it.

Just like the Germans did with the G88 and that isn't represented in the game either and the Central Powers have fewer weapons.

Ross for level 1 canadians.

I would be happy not to have Canadains at all I am not being disrespectful in fashion Canadians did one hell of a job in WW1. But in saying so did Australians and New Zealanders and as stated before that Australians do not bring anything to the game accept an accent and a slouch hat so I really think that there shouldn't be canadians either and it should be called an commonwealth squad in stead IMHO.

Just because the ross was bad doesn't mean it shouldn't be in the game

that's the thing though, there's a difference between trying to add historical significance to the game and then adding weapons/mechanics that are counter-intuitive to the experience. i'm all for more weapons/squads added if it adds instead of detracts to the experience. having to fight your way to a level up which thanks to the more recent tier updated it would be much faster with a mediocre weapon that is outclassed in almost every way by another weapon used by a different class seems almost absurd. the ends just dont justify the means. i mean come on, for the type-99 in ro2: rising storm to be even playable they had to buff it considerably for it to be even worth playing with how unreliable the weapon was in real life. as nice as it would be, i personally dont think its worth it

tl;dr my statement still stands, i'm sure the devs know what they're doing when they havent put the gun in yet

also, i love the fact that you edited your original post to try and give yourself more credibility in your argument. well played old chap
