Health regeneration tweak?
I think that if you guys really want to maintain the historic aspects of the game, I think another change would be good - taking away the health regeneration and add medics. In the real war, obviously soldiers wouldn't have regeneration, but, instead have medics. I don't know, I think it would be nice to implement this into the game.

-anyway, just some suggestions to tweak the health, put down below

Just an idea

Medics didn't really exist at the time either.

Personally prefer the move to make health regen take longer to kick in.

For me, the rate you spawn and die and the lack of real punishment for dying in most cases makes it pretty irrelevant. Getting wounded and finding a medic is simply not any quicker or easier than just dying and respawning. In addition, it's not that often you get wounded and walk away, so I think medics would be pretty much redundant, and replacing health regen with them would just slow the game down - which is not what the game needs.

this has been discussed before and i think even the historical faction agrees that nobody wants to be laying immobile in a shellhole for 30 minutes.

but, i do think a compromise could be tested.

double the stun time for wounds. currently, they seem to be recovered in about 6 seconds. double that to 12 seconds. this will at least slow down the wounded a bit longer and add time when additional wounds can add up to a kill. good to go in place after about 12 seconds, this is still better for the wounded than the respawn time after deaths of around 15 seconds which might happen far from the action.

Yeah, I agree, I just like authenticity, but all of you guys are right. Thanks

Just a tweak would be nice, I guess is what I'm saying

the rate of dying is much to high in taht game now !! should be a muuch longer respawn time so players wont Run like idiots into bullets.....total unrealistic and boring. machinegunners job is a nightmare ingame and most times less efective ...in reality they were most feared !

Completely disagree, the speed is what makes the game, the only useful thing is to attack, extending the respawns would slow down the game, disincentivise agression and thus make it boring, frustrating and completely♥♥♥♥♥♥ The game needs more people charging into bullets. Anyway, in regards to realism, MGs are designed to mow people down en masse, and that's what they did - when people were told to run like idiots into bullets.

to kuban:
i dont want to get too off topic about wound regeneration, but MGs don't have to be boring if you know good places to set up the weapon. normally however, the MGs once spotted become artillery and sniper bait at longer range and grenade destinations at closer range. when we set all artillery to one shell sentry level1 and used no scopes nor grenades for the 1914 Battle of the Yser, the MGs ruled even though we tried to limit them to only two per side.

i estimated that in our 1914 Battle of the Yser, the average soldier had a "life" of 42 seconds. if typically 15 seconds of that was waiting to respawn, the average "life" goes down to 27 seconds. i think a longer respawn after death might result in a player spending more time waiting to respawn than playing the game.

i agree with Beef that the game is fast paced. i set up private matches with others to find out how long it takes to cross the large no-man's land trench to trench at picardie. if not dodging bullets, a sprinter can do so in about 30 seconds and a walker in about 45 seconds.

i do wish that longer health regeneration from a wound is tested, however. i would make wound recovery while being stunned and suppressed for all this time 12 seconds instead of the current 6 seconds, with being in peril of additional wounds counting up to some 100 kill applicable during all of those 12 seconds.

A tweak would be nice. How it is right now is good, I guess.

I want to output another issue I have, but that should be for another discussion

Nope, MGs were useful in real life but they were also very often targeted and killed. The average life span for a German machine gunner under attack was 1.5 minutes. In fact, WW2 is probably a better example of the power of machine guns. Aside from the "Lions led by Donkeys" myth, the British army was able to circumvent the power of the MG and win quite a few offensive battles against the Germans. Cambrai, Messines, Arras, Vimy Ridge. Even the Somme itself, since the Germans lost roughly as many men as the Entente and could not replace them as well. In fact, rhe reason why the war went on for so long was because of how fast reserves went into combat, preventing one side from being able to breakthrough and exploit until the final Entente offensive in 1918, so really the respawn times seem right.

As for the Battle of the Yser event, it is possible I somewhat skewd your calculations, by shooting the Germans with my MG the moment they spawned and got out of their trench repeatedly from a high point in our trench.

We also have to take account that, of course, the respawning. If people are that upset, they should support a non-respawn gamemode. :steamhappy:

Kids...a death should be a death ! In this even World of Tanks is better ;-)

so you want a game where you get banned from the game as soon as you die? That would be the best way of simulating death in a game if you want death to be as real as possible.

And also the most boring game ever. Nobody would ever assault trenches, because if they did, the match would be over right there.

Besides, it would require a complete change in most game mechanics (4 NCOs ordering mortars on enemy trench - possibly game over).

The main difference in WW1 is that soldiers where not trigger happy psychos, and mostly would just shoot to the side of someone in hopes of scaring him, intentionally missing was even reported in WW2.
Here its a game you don't care, you're not hurting anyone.
What a stupid suggestion, people who support this clearly have no clue what a video game is made for
