Are there bots?

Is there an offline mode or something where I can play against bots at all?

Yeah, there is a game mode called Squad Defence, where you can either play alone against waves of bots for as long as you can survive, or you play with up to 3 friends. Bots are awkward though, and that mode gets kind of hard when they start pouring in more frequently than you can actually reload a rifle. So I would suggest you start out with machinegun or something and mow those AI waves down!

You can play Squad Defense in Offline Mode, alone and as Savage Beatings said, you can play by yourself Online, or up to 3 friends in a Private Match.

Outside of a Private Match, you can't really play by yourself as people will likely join your game.

There is nothing else you can play in Offline Mode though.

What's the point of this mode? You will lose in the end. Couldn't you go for solution that makes sense? Killing Floor pulled it off perfectly - 10 regular waves + extra Boss wave. You either win or lose. In Verdun YOU ALWAYS LOSE. It's just a matter of time, so why bother? Sometimes I get impression that devs are either stupid, or don't know what to do, or just don't care. Pretty sad as you coudl get more sales having at least an optional survival mode. I am so disappointed with many devs these days. As if they lacked common sense.

Squad Defense is not a mode I play but you try and see what the highest level is that you can achieve.

Squad Defense is awesome actually, and has added a lot more hours into this game for me. Mainly because I get to try out all the weapons properly. Normally in multiplayer it's really difficulty to stay alive long enough to really use the weapon. Against bots, it starts off easy, and gets harder and you begin to notice the differences between the weapons, such as reloading speed, early reloads, effectiveness in melee etc. If you manage to get a full squad of 4, you will need at least one machine gunner because it is true, they come at you so quick and so many and one MG makes it possible to go for many more waves. It is about lasting as long as possible. I don't feel the need to have a final boss for some closure at all.

Aim is to see how long you can hold off the waves, there isn't ment to be a "victory" other than "YES beat my previous best!"
