K98 Rarity?
I know this isn't entirely a general discussion topic but I'd really like to know, how common was the K98/K98AZ? Also when were they first introduced into the front lines? I would only guess that Stormtruppen would use them but I have no clue. Thank you for your help

cavalry and artillery had them all along. after that, yes sturmtruppen.
Introduced in 1908 I believe. As for scarcity, as Temujin says, originally Cavalry and Artillery arms. The German Army had rather a lot of Artillery so, there must have been a fair few K98AZs. Comparatively few have survived however.
Very rare for regular infantry. They were around since 1908, but the Gewehr 98 was the de facto rifle for virtually all german troops.
Ok so they were as rare as I thought. Now why did the devs make this rare of a weapon the main weapon for Germans ingame? I have wondered this also since I got the game a couple years ago but I never quite knew how rare K98/K98AZ's really were

The lack of weapons to accommodate the various loadouts in game, perhaps?

Kar98AZs weren't that "rare" dude

They werent that common of a sight it seems and as said would have seen very little to any use by the soldiers on the front

They did see use, weren't common but were used by a range of soldiers on the frontlines. They weren't the standard weapon, but same way the Lebel was the standard French rifle through the war and the M1917 Enfield was the standard American rifle.

then why does the landser schütze have access to it but the poilus fusilier not to the mosqueton?since so many other loadouts got mirrored wouldnt it make sense to give the schütze a choice between the g98 and g88?

...i kinda agree with luna here. Maybe it'd be better if the Kar98az was replaced with the G98 + Trench Mag for the Landser squad, i dunno, just throwin it out there

Gotta say I do not like the horseshoe sights on the g98 as well as the slow bolt and reload. Kar98=better imo.

its better, but the discussion is because it was rarer it maybe should be made rarer,at least for non-elite squads (landser and schützen).the mosqueton m16 is probably the best gun for the french but the fusilier has no carbines at all since they were not issued much to regular infantry.

Not interested in historic viability in a game that has major historical inaccuracies.
If the g98 becomes the standard rifle replacing the kar just watch the crying.
Many already complain about the efficacy of the CP weapons compared to Entente weapons.
French rifles ingame are arguably better than German as it is. Faster and better sights. Plus the fusilier gets the Berthier. Good weapon.

Am I the only one that doesn't think the kar98 is that good? Its accuracy isn't all that reliable.

Nerf carbines and buff rifles now please.

One hit non-kills at long range should only apply to carbines not rifles in order to differentiate the two weapon types and give rifles more of an edge. I've noticed long rifles like Lebel not killing at long range. That is unacceptable in a game where carbines like K98az already dominate so much.
