The minimalistic art style is good and so is the rhythmic timing, but that doesn't make up for the uninteresting controls or bland soundtrack.
Other minimalistic platformers (dust force, super meat boy, electronic super joy) can make up for their minimal graphics with slick, addictive controls. 140 just has move left/right at constant speed and jump. The wall grabs, double-jumps, running, sliding, etc that drive other similar games are lacking here.
Other rhythm games (bit trip runner, beat buddy) are able to make up for their limited controls with an addictive soundtrack. The thumping bass is great at first, but none of the levels have any sort of melodic hook and repetitive percussion can only get you so far.
Since most of the game objects are timed to match the music, you spend a lot of your play time waiting for the right time to jump... and waiting isn't fun.
Although the art style is great, it isn't quite enough to make it fun to play.
