Raptr May Cause Full Game Crashes
We have been made aware that several full game crashes currently appear to be caused by Raptr. If you are encountering crashes, please disable Raptr and try re-running the game. There may be other third-party programs that could interfere with the Unity Game Engine as well; if you happen to know of any please list them in this thread.

Just use it for little games like Solitaire, if you want to use it for big games uninstall it and when you end install it again. They said the problem will be repaired as soon as possible.

That may explain my issue. Thank you for posting.

Thanks for the advise! That solved my problem. With Raptr running, the game crashes to desktop after the first time when the Boston map appears. Between the HQ and the first crime scene.

I've never had Raptr running while trying to play this and the gamehas crashed on me twice: The first after transitioning to outside the first crime scene--I managed to save before it crashed--and while transitioning away from the crime scene. I doubt Skype's at fault and there hasn't been any problem with games running with Firefox open so I doubt that would be the problem, as well

Try some of the other potential fixes in the FAQ thread. Most notably: -force-gx-direct

Where under Properties is "Launch Options" supposed to be, then?
oldbushie  [developer] Feb 15, 2015 @ 5:51pm
The first tab you see upon accessing Properties from the Games list in Steam Library. There's a Set Launch Options button at the bottom.

EDIT: Well, I got through all of the Rose's Antiques scene before it crashed again

I noticed this with other games. Stupid Raptr. I ended up downloaded it as I just wanted to download new drivers for the graphics card so I always shut down Raptr so it stops messing with other stuff.

So, it's now been months and I still can't use my 290 R2 graphics card to it's full extent (twitch, recording and so on), because Raptr keeps crashing. I'm sorry, but I'm switching to NVidia GTX980 today. I'm one that likes to support the "little guy", but in this case months of unfixed bugs is not acceptable to me.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that Raptr consistently crashes many Unity games.

Hi guys,

I had the same issue. Game crashing few times right after showing the map with location of first case and the sound of car being played.
I have found this thread and checked the Raptr being the issue. However, instead of closing/uninstalling Raptr, I have just disabled the "Track gameplay" and "In-game overlay" for Cognition only and that helped in my case.
After re-starting game, there was no problem passing that crashing point. Hopefully it will be working fine for the rest of the game now :-)

Hope this helps,
Ryandell

I'm glad to know you can exclude specific games; that should come in handy for other players. :)
