Nuclear Throne is a fast paced, adrenaline fueled adventure set in a wasteland filled with hundreds of weapons, chemical and normal.
This game is hard as nails.
If you've played Binding Of Isaac, imagine that on steroids. Just think of mutations/weapons as the items you gather in the Binding Of Isaac and you'll see my point.
What character you choose effects the gameplay, some with specific mutations (Each character has a "throne butt" mutation which is specific to them).
During your quest you find "rads" which drop from enemys or canisters found in each level. When you get a level the next portal you enter (portal appears when you kill all enemy in the level) will give you a choice of mutation which can change the gameplay of the game entirely or be completely useless. In very rare cases it may even ruin your run. Which is why they have 4 mutations to choose from.
There is so many weapons in the game I can't even write about them, all I can say is that each level has a table of weapons to choose from and the WIKI has info about that.
Next we move onto crowns. Crowns are earned later in the game by doing a specific thing, they can change the gameplay as well except Vlambeer has stated HIMSELF that they're meant for mutations and not make the game easier.
If you do manage to beat the game then you can loop, which will start you at the beginning except you'll have everything you got on your journey and the game will be harder.
The game is styled as if it belongs in the past, kind of like the Binding Of Isaac. The feel of the game is much more modern, however. The pixelated art-style is very well done and it really helps with the feel of the game in my opinion.
I can't really say more, it may not look like I have alot of hours but this game is amazing regardless. I love the death out of this game and Vlambeer really did a great job.
Whether it's worth the 9.99 price tag? I'd say yes, but it really all boils down to opinion.
One more thing I'd like to mention is that a lot of the game is going to be changed or remade. Some of the things you see are placeholders etc. Oh and - the game has lots of secrets.
(This was my first "serious" review so please give your output below, I'll try to read as many as I can!)
