MAC Co-op Controller and Mouse/Keyboard Problems!

So i have a Mouse and Keyboard, and a Steam Controller, and I want to play local Co-op, but the steam controller wants to control player 1! Nothing I do makes it control player 2 (although its fire button will shoot both player's guns)

I've looked through other threads on this topic and none of the solutions have worked. Is it because I'm on a mac? Should i be worried that the Steam Controller Trackpad wants to control my on screen pointer? What am I doing wrong?

I think that the roles switched which means that player 1 is the controller and the mouse is player 2

Except its not. I wouldn't be writing this if that were the case. Keyboard is non-responsive, mouse works for player 1, Controller controlls Player 1 as normal
