Upcoming version 1.3 - localization and more content
Hi all,

Its been a while since we have posted news. That doesn't mean that we have been sleeping or forgotten about you. On the contrary.

Our focus lately has been a lot on the upcoming iOS release, and while we are still working on that - the next update is for PC again :-)

There are still a few features we are working on, but we are putting finishing touches upon

- 2 new campaigns with each 5 missions
- localization of all text in the game for German, Italian, Spanish, French and Russian
- additional performance improvements as spill over from the iOS porting
- several rule alignments with the board game
- a complete overhaul of all achievement code

And if we get it done in time (else next update)
- an additional Genestealer skin pack
- full controller support for Steam Big Picture

The release is planned to go out within the next few weeks, and we will naturally keep you informed about the final details.

Thanks for your continued support, and we will continue work on this game also past this update and the iOS launch.

Where you guys planning to tweak the graphics and lighting a bit more with this patch Silverleech? And are these two campaigns going to be freebies or DLCs? And if DLCs, what are we talking for price? Also, were you guys planning to add new achievements, or just adjust the code for the existing ones?

Great! The localization and the new content should bring more players and add a significant value to the game.
Thanks for the campaigns and congratulations for the iOS upcoming launch! Now we need 17 inches tablets ;)

Achievements won't be reset, we have made some corrections to the code as some of the achievements didn't function properly. We are working on additional achievements, but lets see if they make it in from the get go...would ofc be great.

Excellent, I will buy these DLCs only if/when there is affirmative communication about the editor.

Without the editor, the replay value is 0 and the play time is limited to the content, which without an editor will unlikely pass 30-40 hours, and paying to merely extend that play time by a few hours is unnacceptable for me, unless I am assured that the money is in part going to facilitate the development of and deployment of the editor.

To be clear, I understand the paid DLC model and a fully functioning editor now would likely damage sales if people could simply make the missions themselves, however as much as I like the software currently I can not bring myself to play it at this time because it is all done. I do appreciate your dilligent participation here in the forums and I would like to trust in everything you say, but I am too long in the tooth, and there may of course be problems ahead that even your team are yet unaware of. So please, please, ask your team for an update on the editor before the DLC is released. If you say it will definitely be done, I will trust you this time and buy your DLC. If for whatever reason it doesn't happen after that it will be my fault for trusting you, and you will have my money for the DLCs.

The primary reason I bought this game was for the promise of the editor. I hope you don't find my reasoning unfair, I really like the game but it will be forgotten quickly without the feature that really gave the board game infinte replay value. For longer term sales it is essential in my view.

Hi Sammi,

For us its a matter of prioritizing our resources. We need to get the iOS version out, because thats highest priority for us after having done all the work on the PC version post launch.

We have coop as well, that we prioritize before editor. And improving performance, gameplay features and adding more chapters like the upcoming Space Wolves.

We are not EA or Activision (thank god) with unlimited teams of coders, so that means that our handful of programmers need to be prioritized. We just cant deliver everything at once.

One lesson learned in our end unfortunately is in future projects not ever again talk about upcoming features until they are ready to launch. Because instead of seeing it as "wow - did I just get this for free?" you see it as a "missing promised feature sometime in the future that they didnt deliver - those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥s".

We have been very open and shared our ideas and dreams - and that unfortunately seems to constantly backfire on us. Because for you #1 priority is the editor. For person X its coop. For person Y its an iPad version. And no matter what we do, we will not be in a position to satisfy everyone at the same time.

Editor is still on our feature list to do. As posted in another sticky thread, we want to make sure this game has a long future. But promising a date or anything else about a feature we are not prioritizing right now - we shoot ourselves in the foot (again).

If that means you will not play these cool new campaigns, then we are truly sorry. We simply have limited resources at any given time, and this is how we prioritized them.

Thanks for the reply Thomas, I understand. Sorry to be apprehensive about it, like I say if at some point in the future there is positive communication about the editor, I will not see more money spent on DLC as a loss, but at this point I am going to cut it as I am a 34 year old gamer and have been burned many many times.

I hope that either the IOS version or Coop etc. don't become problematic and swallow up resources that might have otherwise been used for the editor, but these things can't be predicted. And you are absolutely right to never talk about upcoming features until they are certain to happen, it's a learning curve and it seems you folks are doing really well. Keep it up!

And I'll definitely be watching for further anouncements. ;)

The new campaigns are awesome news. I haven't finished the first new one yet! I also liked the Space Wolf image i saw a month or so back. I think it is interesting that you have prioritised the co-op over the level editor, i would have thought the editor would have added more longevity to the game post support from you guys for it. Still, i guess it depends on demand, resources etc. I am sure it will all be cool anyway.

I was interested in the rules changes you mentioned. What will these be?

I don't get why the port to IOS is happening before an Android port, when Android outsells iPhony 4:1. The rest is all great news, keep up the good work.

I'm guessing as iOS is a single standardised platform to work on. What with the multiple different OS versions and Devices on Android making it more difficult to port.

That's true, it's also because the Android market has been a hard beast to concur...a lot of devs have burned their fingers going there as android users are generally used to getting most stuff for free. It's taken a while for the market to be properly organized, but definetely seeing some improvements recently

I hope it includes revealing genestealers costing 6 AP.
Stealers are already very favored in this game imo and that difference from the board game just made them go over the top.
Also hoping for a Space Marine tonedown. In the board game you have to complete your actions with a terminator before moving to the other (bar from the extra secret CP).

Care to spoil anything? :p
If not, looking forward to the next update anyways! ^^
