BEST GAME: I ever bought off Steam
I played ALL DAY yesterday and loved it.
Only one problem...I cannot get past the "Cleanse" mission.
Any strategies?

Make sure to target doors ahead of you and use move & fire to shoot them while you're advancing towards the rooms at the end. That way, you can hopefully see and kill on overwatch most Genestealers in front of you, before they get too close. So the you just need to worry about guarding the side paths

i need to try that as althogh I am having fun I still cannot get this first mission done

Each room you torch gives the genestealers more units to deploy, I'm not sure how much but it seems to be the case. A fun thing about the Heavy Flamer is that it can shoot really far, at least far enough that if you stand in the top hallway connecting three rooms you can torch all three in one turn; that allows you to make a mad dash to the exit with relatively minimal resistance.

Yep defiantly easier to wait and flame the last few rooms. Each time you flame a room the genestealer gets an extra blip each turn.

kk, yeah i am not sure i understand the shoot and move feature

Yeah that took me a while to figure out also. First click on the icon that looks a little bit like an arrow, the one to the right of the shield. Now click on a door. Now move as normal and your unit will shoot at the door as he moves. Shoot and Move is automatic if you use the storm bolter but ONLY attacks genestealers, you must target doors manualy.
Good luck!

Oops, I thought you meant Cleanse & Burn from the first set of missions. Although I still think move & fire is a useful tactic for any map.

In the action buttons at the bottom, there's one that is an icon of an arrow?
If you click that, you can then target a Genestealer or a door. An arrow icon should appear above the target. So then, if the Terminator takes a step forward and can see that target, it'll shoot at it. The key being that the move and the shoot only cost 1AP together, rather than having to spend 1AP to move and then 1AP to shoot.
So it's a free way to get a door open.
But also, you can target something around a corner, and then you'll shoot at it as soon as it is in view.

For the Cleanse map, as I recall, I shot the door of the first room, flamed it when I got there, while also flaming the room to the right. Then I ran along the corridor to the left, using the Librarian's Force Barrier to stop the flood on Genestealers that were following me. Kept casting it for several turns to build up a big gap. Went up above the room, let the stream of Genestealers through and blocked them from leaving the room, and then flamed it to kill lots and get the third room, and then prayed for lots of command points while I ran for the exit.

But I really like Kulrig's suggestion of instead going for those three in a row on the top right. I shall give that a try next time I play that map.

I've taken to trying to clear the missions as quickly as possible, and at first I was using a similar strategy to yours (illitrate) since on paper at least it was faster; fewer tiles to move through, fewer spawn points piled atop each other to bog me down, every room is on the way so there's hardly any extra AP spent turning Zael, and it's a bit more lenient on acceptable CP rolls mid game and late game. Torching all three in the same turn needs a minimum roll of 4 and it absolutely MUST happen the turn after Zael gets into position the way I play, whereas going left I just need Cali and Lorenzo to be far enough ahead of Zael so they don't get torched along with the final room.

Only problem was it was slower than going around the right, torching all three rooms in one turn, and praying I wasn't overrun at the end. I tested both ways extensively, and while running up the left was ludicrously faster at first it ended up being far slower and less reliable than going right mostly due to the only spawn points actually mattering are the two near the final corridor and all those extra xenos taking a long time to move. Going right also allowed me to save Psi for blocking off one of the two final spawn points to allow Zael more time to catch up to Cali and Lorenzo after he was done.

There is another way to go about it similar to the above, which I ended up doing. You can watch it here if ya want to get a better idea of what I mean; might take a bit for the quality to kick in, at least it does on my connection. Keep in mind I was trying to clear it quickly rather than safely, and of the perhaps three dozen attempts this was one of the few successful ones so if all you want to do is clear the mission I recommend taking a few more precautions such as not leaving anyone to die.

That vid shows just how basic the AI is. Nice one tho, very quick method indeed. :). Normally takes me ages to clear this one lol.

Aye, at the second to last turn I counted out the steps it would take for that spawn point to reach Zael, and when I found out he was within attack range my heart skipped a beat. Hooray for self-blocking AI salvaging that mistake! :D

All fixed, thanks again for all of your help, it was my gamma correction, bad eyesight, and a dull brain that was making me select the wrong missions!
