How did you find out about this release?
I was just working my way through all my games, checking the news sections and noticed it mentioned in the related news for Hotline Miami.
I'm hoping it gets a bit more exposure on Steam in the next week. The Chaos Engine deserves a reboot. It was/is one of the few Amiga games I actually own a boxed copy of. I still fire it up on there every once in a while.
Hopfully, if this sells well, they might consider making a remake of Speedball 2 with online multiplayer!
Either way, I am very happy they have decided to re-release this.

Not so sure about Speedball 2 HD, to be honest... personally, to me this looks dreadful - they destroyed everything visually that defined the original A500 version.

also preacher, but he was called scientist, if i remember correctly(?). at least in genesis/mega drive version of the game.

The original SB2 has a great art style and personally I don't think it really needs to be changed much if at all.
To have the original arena skin as an unlock reward or as one of many unique looking arenas would be nice. Maybe add customisation of team/player names, ONLINE multiplayer + league tables.
Is that a tall order? I think limiting it to just being local multiplayer would be a big mistake and a missed opportunity.

@//// I never played the preacher much, he always seemed a bit too squishy. but since this re-release i have decided to give them all a proper go. I never knew that about him being called the scientist those versions. I wonder what made them do that :)
I am still yet to put in some serious time on this rerelease of CE. I was waiting for the sound glitches to get sorted.

The preacher was changed into the scientist in some versions (with his clerical collar removed and his biography altered), most notably in the Snes and Megadrive ports and the US version. The reason was that people might complain about what would essentially be an untrustworthy, perverse, gun-toting man of God.

Holy ♥♥♥♥. "Dreadful" is too kind a word. It looks like they ported the Gameboy Colour version. WTF???

Why isn't anyone who actually understands what made these games GREAT in control of them? :(

I spotted it in "what your friends have been playing" - made me do a double take :)

all we need now is Microprose Knights of the Sky, Alien Breed 3D and Gunship 2000 or Zewolf, throw in Desert Strike, the ECS Amiga version of Elite and I'll be in old baldy man pipe and slippers retro heaven here :)

Online multiplayer ? Don't expect anything other than a pure clone of the original, that's what these guys do. I don't even understand how all these reviews and videos are calling this a remake when all they did was add a few filter to smooth the low resolution graphics. I'm sorry, but my amiga emulator does this on the fly.

Speedball 2 would be a instant buy also. though i do wish they enhance the league system a bit. i recall it didn't work that well. But my memory is quite hazy.

check steam, i just saw Z but the good news is that the guys who did the remastered of chaos engine has nothing to do with the Z release.
