PAYDAY: The Heist
Cons of OVERDRILL
I understand those wanting to learn how to do it and it is a challenge but it is being abused severely. People are learning about this at a low rank and quickly turn to it for quick cash, then we have high and mid ranks with the skill of low rankers due to overpayment. It's frankly getting quite old. I was playing a game today and noticed some odd behavior from a rank 157 I look at his stats and he only has 25 hours or so of gameplay... If I remember correctly my first reputation go around was about 70 - 90 hours?

This is just absurd, especially with the steam sale going on and all, we have tons of new guys that are simply doing OVERDRILL for a majority of their cash, its hard to find anyone reliable to play with.

Please, for the love of everything on the face of the earth, atleast put a 1.5 hour time cap on it, change the difficulty requirement, something alone those lines.

I did both the 2 hour jiff on 145+ and as 193 I taught people how to do the overdrill, placements, tactics ( I don't camp), etc.

Me and my buddy that I play with have no problem helping the new guys and I'll do it anytime but I hate it when I join a hard or overkill server full of high ranks that have no idea what they are doing yet are extremely cocky.

The ability to grind existed before the overdrill, it was just less glorified. Diamond Heist was farmed a lot.
Yeah but it doesnt give nearly as much money, and you have WAY less of a chance to achieve.

I dunno about that. You can get between 40,000k to 60,000k per hour rushing on Overkill. You need 697,207K total to get from rep 0 to 145, so that's about like 12 hours under ideal conditions. On 145+, it's 160,000k to 240,000k. You need 636,000k to go from 145 to 193, so you could get 193 in well under 24 hours.

Did anyone ever figure out the value of the gold in the overvault?

Are there any pros to the overdrill? Except seeing the honorable mentions. Maybe a little for weapon challenges. Other than that, it has so many cons. This is far worse than Diamond Heist, which I never liked because of how much people farmed it, and the uneventfulness of it.

Lol I have honestly heard of no one ever doing that so this is fresh for me
I just met the cockiest Payday player ever. He was a level 90 who had 16 hours of playtime, the overdrill achievement and just about 1-2 attempts on all maps other than World Bank. He was barking orders at me and the others in the server who were all above lvl 160 and I was 154 (did overdrill twice), telling us to camp in office and shouting out the most overused commands like "1 player empty vault".

This is why I play with friends only :L
"1 player empty vault" it's like the players don't know how to play when they all go into the vault. Seriously, I will never feel the glorious moment of 4 robbers taking all the money together...
I'm ok with do an overdrill run if the context is right, everyone's at a decent level (level 100~) , it's on hard or higher (normal on the rare occasion), and everyone is at least willing to do it. If I'm going to do something that would only give me weapon grinding time, I want there to be at least some degree of challenge.

Most overdrill runs I've seen they do it on easy, and it annoys me because 1. There's absolutely no challenge and no risk of all going down, and 2. it keeps me from finding those who are just joining payday and me wanting to help them out.

It's happened to me a few times now where there will be two level 20~30s and then a 4th comes in asking for overdrill. I want to just say "Dude, no these guys need to learn, not grind.", but I'll just calmly say they're not ready yet to do it.

Thankfully I've yet to see the negative effects, but I think I'll probably see it the more I play now.
That's why I just kick them if they ask in those situations, rather than get annoyed by them by all their whining.
Agreed. An unhelpful, unexperienced novice farmer level 100+ is *still* an unhelpful novice. A simple solution that should have been the case all along: available on Hard and Overkill difficulty ONLY.

Actually, it should have stayed on 145+ only, that was the big thing that Overkill messed up on. Just making it so you didn't have to have gold masks

I'm also annoyed of the mass of people who have a higher Rep but no experience. It IS neccessary to take the Overdrill out of easy, normal and hard at least. Then, set the drill timer on 3000 on Overkill and keep the 7200 on 145+. The achievement itself is awarded with 5 mio, a 5 mio achievement should be one of the hardest.
The money room in panic room is also only acessible on 145+, so why not the overvault, too?
Maybe the overdrill gate is only for people with 145 or higher (change the trigger to presidental, golden and secret masks)

At least with Diamond Heist it encouraged people to play on a high difficulty and improve their stealth on the heist. With the Overdrill you can just camp in an exploit spot and not have to bother killing any cops and you'll still get a good payout even on low difficulties.

That's true. Being able to stealth diamond heist is also a bit of an essential skill for pubbing
