DLC patch? You don't mean the patch that came out with the DLC, do you? That was months ago and I don't recall a driver update.

All you need to do is run it each time you launch your System and it should fix most, if not all of your problems with games.
After monitoring the Steam Overlay issue in the Discussions and Forums, it appears you are helping a lot and responding to most of the posts about the issue. So, I wanted to add my observations about the M series Nvidia cards. For the people who have an Nvidia M series card AND it is in a configuration that uses the Nvidia Optimus technology (CPU graphics + Nvidia M series GPU), no amount of re-installs or beta drivers will help.
"If you have an NVIDIA video card, you may just not be able to use it. The problem itself is a combination of the video card itself, the driver, and the game engine. Some cards will be able to use the overlay with some drivers and others will not. The driver with the largest success rate seems to be version 306.97."
I don't think this is the whole story. I think the cards, the drivers, and the game engine all work fine, but that the Optimus technology is creating the problem. I think it's important in these threads to distinguish between those with M series cards only and those with M series cards + Optimus technology. The helpful tips given in various threads may support those with M series cards in the first configuration but I think they are dead ends for anyone with the Optimus technology: at least for now.
On my laptop I tried running under only the Intel graphics and the overlay worked fine, but when I enabled the discrete nvidia GPU (540M) the overlay stopped working. None of the drivers--new, old, or beta--have helped with the issue. However, the game itself runs great on the 540M with any of the drivers.
For the time being, if you have an M series and Optimus, you'll just have to alt-tab to get to the community features.
Good work, Forblaze. Thanks.
Thanks, I appreciate your help.
A desktop card will occasionally get this problem and switching up the driver usually resolves it. It also works for a mobile card here and there. So I'm thinking there are either two separate issues with the same result or a single issue caused by a "feature" that is always present in the optimus tech and that NVIDIA had added to a few of their driver releases.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone with a 600M series GPU has the same issue or if Nvidia has improved Optimus compatability along with the architecture.
Also, the exact same Steam Overlay issue happens with the original Borderlands in my Optimus configuration, even though the game runs fine with any driver. In case you are also involved in any of those discussions, or if it helps troubleshoot the fundamental problem by having another example in a different game.
The best solution is for us to just get a new standalone Payday release where the overlay isn't a problem! Right, Overkill?
And... go.
-=Edit 2nd fix Delete the installscript.vdf file from the local install which worked for me.=-
Is the PhysX installation being interrupted?
Thank you for the quick reply, it tries to install the PhysX then being halted with the message "The currently installed version of the drivers is newer than what you are trying to install, aborting instalation." and it does this everytime I try to play the game.
