Blech. If you liked CoH, you might not like this.
This game is not for me, I've decided. I tried a Flying hand blast firey heroic Superman disciple, and it was awful. I took him to lvl 10 and it was a hard slog, so rolled up a superspeeding gadget girl modelled on catwoman with wonder woman as her mentor. She was much more enjoyable to play, but i got to the bit in the tutotrial where the lungers lunge at you, and the last lunger didn't manifest his spherical blue fo4rce field, so i was unable to damage him. I let him kill me and went back to find the bug still in effect, logged out, and upon realising i had to start the tutorial again, well, that's enough.

Gutted, it looks loveley. But it's shockingly crap. Not being able to access the official forums didn't help, either.

EDIT: I think i did give the game a fair shot, but compared to CoH it's really quite basic, IMO. But it does look really nice, and its extremely stable, which is in its favour.

Wow. Way to not play the game at all, run into a single bug, then decide it's total crap.

This is a good thing, though. More server space for people who actually want to give the game a chance.

EDIT: Level 10 is a hard slog? Really? Dude, I could do that in an afternoon.

This sounds like 100% user problem.

That sort of supports my point. Until you kindly provided this link, nothing in the game or on the official site i was directed to via the launcher etc helped me gain access to the forums. I went through a horrible process of being redirected from Sony to the European site (cant remember what it is, something beginning with P) and back, simply (I think) because i wanted to play on the US servers but I live in Poland.

Thanks for the link, that was very kind. I'm sorry about appearing to criticies the game you obviously have no or little problem with, but, well, different strokes, and all that. DCUO is too simplistic in its narrative for me, I feel, as well as not being user-friendly enough in its presentation.

I've played it for 15 hours. You're entitled to your own preferences, but I consider 15 hours plenty of time to give a game the benefit of the doubt for.

If 'the game begins at lvl 30', then they're doing it wrong. The game should begin when it begins.

The launcher points me right at the new forums. That's a user error f I ever heard one.

Actually that raises a question, in 15 hours, how did you only get to level 10? I could get four characters to level 10 in that time. Maybe your problem is that you just didn't know what you were doing?

Until you get close to lvl 30 and you try most of the stuff in the game you can't be criticising it.

If you can get four characters a third of the way to the level cap in 15 hours, then DCUO is definitely not the game for me. I spent a good hour flying around metropolis oohing and aahing at how cool the city looked upon first exiting the police station, for example. Maybe that's player error and i should have been mindlessly spamming mobs in a frantic rush to get to lvl 30 instead.

I like to explore. Collecting the little 'i' icons was cool, but it didn't get me very far in levels. Fior me, though, levelling isn't the be all and end all of an MMO. A good MMO should make the journey to the level cap so much fun that it doesn't matter if it takes you a 150 hours to get there.

DCUO failed to do that for me. it's not player error. it's not a massive failing of DCUO. it's good at doing what it does, and you guys like it. You're willing to put up with the 'glorified tutorial', as it was described as upthread, in order to get to whatever it is about the endgame that you like.

I'm not.

You try Google? That's all I did. There is a small chance that you were trying to access it during the couple hours that the forums were down to move to the new forums, but that's unlikely.

So it was it a hard slog to level 10, or did it take so long because you weren't doing missions? Make up your mind.

But it's okay. You just don't like the game because you didn't get very far flying around doing nothing. And that you couldn't access the forums during announced downtime. And that you ran into a bug. It's cool, I get it. You won't be missed.

Calling someone a raging fan boy literally right after saying "The game I like is better than the game you like." And then adding that you should ignore said "raging fan boy" for being unable to practice "decent discussion."

Your post is 80% hypocrisy by volume.

I never played City of Heroes. I did play Champions Online, which was made by the same guys. DCUO is significantly better than CO. I do, however, know that Cryptic made the decision to shut the servers of a certain mediocre game down a mere few months after a certain competing game made a superior experience more accessible.

DCUO has it's own flaws, most of them shared with every other MMO, some of them unique, but no more than any other game of it's class. Aside from one bug that may or may not have actually existed (and would only cause 4 minutes of inconvenience if it had), no flaws have actually been brought up in this thread.

If you actually wanted discussion, instead of rushing into DCUO dedicated forums crying "Dis Gaem Suxs!!!!!11," you would have presented a selection of features from CoH that you liked and compared it to a list of what you felt were DCUO's shortcomings. But you didn't. You're just a blind fanboy who rushed in here raging about how DCUO isn't a worse game.

Statements like this are usually trash used to encite people who do not like a fanbois game. You should not have to go through a majority or all of a game befor you can figure out if you like it or criticize it.

While my favorite part of the game is the leveling, the leveling is not most of the game. It's only about a quarter of the base game.

unlike COH this game isnt about spending the entire time leveling and soloing. its more about group content and its built much differently.

if it took 15 hours to reach level 10 at the highest. you've got problems, i did that in an hour...simply following the quests.

i gave coh 2 months before dcuo launched. the community sucked, couldnt find a guild for ♥♥♥♥. dcuo, i find a league in the first week and i've played with them for 2 years. half of them played coh, and stopped for a reason.... it hasnt had anything "new" in ages.

your angry your fav game was shutdown, be glad it had such a long lifespan. but dont come critique a game becuase it isnt exactly the same and you have no idea what your doing.

i honestly have no idea how you couldnt find the forums. there's a giant link that says forums on the main page, has been since launch. ....i mean, using google is hard and everything. but there's trying, and then there's not caring.

now lets see, you had a hard time with a fire toon? meteor is the number one ability to use while leveling. it wreaks havoc on everything. but sadly, it will be nerfed terribly in GU 23.
