big black screen
i try and open the game but all i get is a big black screen

sorry i had a car wreck and have a brain injury..i really don't understand what you r tring to tell me..it's been fun playing the game and if i can't get it fixed i will tell others it's a fun game..ty for tring to help:)

You don't have to leave! It's not a very difficult process. I can explain it to you step by step.

First, go to your Steam Library, and right-click on Guncraft.

Choose, 'Properties'.

Click 'Set Launch Options'.

Type 'logToFile' into the space there.

Now, you need to find your GuncraftLogs folder. To do this:

Go to your Windows Start Menu, and click "Computer".

After you clicked 'Computer', you should see a small list of your computers Drives (probably 3 drives in the list: Windows, Recovery, and DVD Drive).

Click on Windows.

Now find and click 'Users'.

Now click on your Username.

Then click AppData.

Then click Local.

Then click Temp.

Then click GuncraftLogs

Then click 2.12

Delete everything in the 2.12 folder.

Now, start up Guncraft.

After you get to the point were you get the black screen, exit Guncraft.

Go back to your Steam Library, right-click on Guncraft, choose Properties, then Set Launch Options, and erase 'logToFile' so the space is empty.

Now go back to your GuncraftLogs.

Click on 2.12 again.

There should be only 1 file in there.

Right click on it, and choose 'Copy'.

Now, login to your email account

Compose a new email, and put in andy@exatogames.com as the adress your sending the email to.

Click 'Add Attachment'.

Now right click in the empty space, and choose 'Paste'.

The file is now added as an attachment, so click Send Email.

The log file has now been sent! :D:

Now, one last thing. The devs made a small fix that may or may not work.

To use it, go back to your Steam Library, right-click on Guncraft, go to Properties.

Click on the 'Betas' tab. Enter the Password 'UseThePreviousVersion' and select the previous version.

Now launch Guncraft, let the download finish, and see if you still get the black screen. If not, great! But if you still get the black screen, just wait until the devs find a permament fix for it.

Just tried it and so far so good, Though it's seeming more and more like the authentication takes longer. Took a good 7 minutes before seeing the main title, But so far it all seems to work!

Make sure to send me a log file with the authentication problem so we can work out for sure what is going on. There's a lot more things we do at that point as well. I would expect the authentication to have timed out and failed well before 7 minutes so there's probably something else.
