Game Crashes My Computer and Resets My Progress [Resolved - Was corrupted Save File]
So this has happened twice now; first the audio on my computer totally gets nullified, then my PC crashes entirely. Upon reboot, re-starting up steam, playing Rogue Legacy (the first time it wouldn't start at all, but I fixed that), and then when I resume my game all my armour is gone, my whole tech/upgrade tree has been reset, my level has been reset, everything except my progress with my boss kills. It also glitches so that I have a full set of squire armour and 5 double-jump runes, even though there is no smithy or enchantress.

Seriously this needs to be fixed, it's making my game unplayable and incredibly frustrating.
Apart from that, I love your game, Cellar Door Games.

Have you had an opportunity to test it with the latest version? (v1.0.10a)

Yes, initially it crashed with 1.0.9, now it's doing the same thing on 1.0.10.

About 28 of them. The latest one is as follows:

System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: BackBufferWidth and BackBufferHeight must be greater than zero.
Parameter name: value
at Microsoft.Xna.Framework.GraphicsDeviceManager.set_PreferredBackBufferWidth(Int32 value)
at RogueCastle.Game.InitializeScreenConfig()
at RogueCastle.Game.Initialize()
at Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game.RunGame(Boolean useBlockingRun)
at RogueCastle.Program.Main(String[] args)

Could you check your GameConfig file to tell me what values your ScreenWidth and ScreenHeight are set to? It can be found in your APPDATA folder.

To find the APPDATA folder on your computer, click the START button. Then, for Windows XP click the Run command, and for other versions of Windows enter the "Search Programs and Files" search bar. Inside the bar, type in %APPDATA% and press ENTER to load your APPDATA folder. This should lead you to \AppData\Roaming\.

GameConfig should be located in \AppData\Roaming\Rogue Legacy\

Sure thing:

[Screen Resolution]
ScreenWidth=1920
ScreenHeight=1080

I play the game in full screened mode as well:

[Fullscreen]
Fullscreen=True

Ok thanks.

Sorry, I have to ask this, but are you certain that crash log you posted is the latest one? I only ask because that error is from a bug that was fixed in the latest patch. The crashlog naming convention can be a little misleading. It's safest to check the date modified attribute to see which one was your last crash.

Yepp it was filtered by the latest date modified... If it happens again I will be sure to send the latest crash log. Is there anything I can do to help you solve the problem?

Honestly, I'm out of ideas for the time being. Our only clue is from a crashlog for a bug that's definitely been fixed.

What I can say is, if the game ever crashes and you lose your save, the latest version (v10.010a) should automatically revert back to the last time you died. If it doesn't, you can do it manually.

If you go to the folder:

Documents\SavedGames\RogueLegacy\RogueLegacyStoreContainer\AllPlayers

There should be 2 types of files, RogueLegacy<FileType>.rcdat, and AutoSave_RogueLegacy<FileType>.rcdat. If you delete the RogueLegacy files and rename the AutoSave files so that the "AutoSave_" is removed, your game should hopefully work again.

Ok, fantastic... I'll give that a try next time! Thanks for your help!

R Two, to help Cellar Door focus on latest bugs, we'll close this thread and move it to resolved area. If you run into another corrupt post, please start a new thread. Thank you!
