Stats-wise, I like Hokage. Fast, high offense, Flash, they're fun and I always pick them early in the game, no contest. Too bad they become bad later on because they don't benefit at all from two different upgrades.
Thematically? I guess Barbarians are cool... too bad this pretty much the only game in the entire world that would give them a huge damage penalty. Thankfully they're still a pretty good class, especially for less skilled players.
If I'm looking for raw power, I go to Spellswords.
Dread seeing a list full of Dragons, Archmages or Spelunkers.
Overall favourite is probably the Spellsword. As long as you get a decent spell (Chakram/Axe) and not rubbish (Guardian Sword), you can clear entire rooms just as easily as a Lich.
Spellswords MP regain based on damage dealt ensures you can SPAM your spell, or the Empowered Spell, and use it for bonus damage... and Empowered Spell is just bloody nuts with anything good. I also love the idea of a Magic Knight style class in gaming, since it usually entails having an option for every situation.
Paladin... "A jack of all trades, master of none, is better far, then a master of one." While not completely true, that 100% in all stats is great for seeing just how my stats are doing, and I recently beat Alexander because of the superior STR it had over the Barbarian. Very dependable.
Hokage, for when you need to kill something dead, fast. They have, what, 175% STR stat? On NG, that is absolutely insane, and makes it so you can tackle places like the Maya or the Dungeon with far less STR investment then other classes, which in turn means potential for awesome blueprints, like Guardian stuff, early in the game.
It's like we are the same person.
Also a lich king with the crows, OP as hell early on.
I used to love Paladins, until they nerfed them to death.
