best class for fighting fourth boss.
this is my first run through and im finally at the fourth boss. Ive mainy been using the barbarian king to tank and shout my way through the slimes but he lacks the damage i desire. Im thinking the hokage or the assasin but there a little squishy at times. any ideas?

Any class really works on this boss. I can recommend using vampire runes as every kill gives you some health. Something else is to have a lot of vault runes so you can jump to the other side of the room if necessary.

If you want something in between hokage and barbarian king, you should try paladin. I like barbarian king against this boss. If you find the boss to hard, you should train a bit and return when you are stronger.

The Shinobi's primary benefit of high damage is only actually useful here if it is reducing the number of hits the enemies take. That's easier to determine on a case by case basis, like this boss. They ought to be able to kill both the wizards and the slimes in 2 hits with minimal leveling. If you have leveled up enough that another class (Paladin would be next in line) can do it in 2 hits as well, then the shinobi is no longer a worthwhile choice because the Paladin can do the same damage with more health and mana.

Spellsword is very powerful against all of the bosses but especially this one. You get one with a chakram or flame barrier and you could destroy Herodotus faster than any other class, and with minimal risk so long as the approach is good, control of the minions is constant.

If you want a back-up plan, the Dragon could try to cheese the boss by hanging around on the ceiling. This is kind of boring and time-consuming, but safe. You could also wait around til you get a good melee class with P.A.D. to get a huge benefit on the battle.

Unless you are a very high level, the Assassin won't hold up at all. He begins as the knave, which is definitely one of the worst classes until it is leveled up into a powerhouse.
Half-Dragon makes it stupidly easy if you're careful about it; you can just do hit-and-run attacks, easily killing the casters as they spawn. You'll also be getting HP off of every kill via Vampirism, using the freed Rune slots from not needing Vault/Sky Runes (since you have infinite Flight).

Otherwise, indeed, a melee character with P.A.D. might do the trick if your Strength stat is high enough. Doesn't really matter which; Barbarian King deals less damage but lives longer to deal more of it, Hokage doesn't live as long but deals loads of damage in the shorter time that it survives... in the end it all adds up to just about the same amount of damage dealt. Personally, the first time I did it was with a Hokage.

I find Spellsword plus sickles to work the best. If you hang out on the ground and spam them they tend to kill both the wizards and the slimes, as they fire forward and up. Move in and get a few hits occasionally for mana, and it's an easy fight.

I just used barbarian king on all bosses, stood still and spamed attack though the pain. It worked on all bosses.

I recommend you a Spellsword with Sword wall spell (it is very useful when those little slimes come to jump like crazy moth****ers) or a barbarian king (fus ro dah is very useful). Anyway i killed it with a Barbarian King with P.A.D. (no spikes on the ground). hope it helps :)

Spellsword with the circling fireball spell If you have high magic damage you can kill the entire boss super quick.

I just used a regular Lich King with crowstorm. Just beef up to max HP/MP and fire away.

Any melee class will do just fine. But I recommend NOT killing the slimes randomly. Focus on one and continue killing the lower forms (and the magicians as they appear). The bigger ones are easier to avoid, that's why I take my time and focus in killing the smaller ones one at a time.
And of course, vampirism really really helps.

Either a Lich or spellsword, both are stupidly powerful against this boss with crowstorm
Personally, I did well with a Barbarian King; the shout saved me a few times when I got cornered and all that health helped me survive long enough to get the last few hits I needed to win the fight. PAD is a very helpful trait in this fight and Vampire Runes definately increase your survivability.
A good tactic to use during the fight, if you haven't already, is simply leaving larger enemies alive while you attack the smaller ones, so he doesn't create too many tiny slimes that just fly around the room.

You can just kick them with any classes. Personally, I choose the shinobi.
