It certainly sounds like a stereo track with a mono input. That could be due to a number of things, but the easiest place to start is to go through the input process.
when you go to the input for the track, drop it down to the mic/input whater you are using; Not knowing that, it is a bit difficult to explain for your particular situation, but this is the general idea anyway). The inputs will show, and selecting the one you are using should, assuming it has a stereo possibility at all, offer Left input (Mono), Right Input (Mono) or the Stereo option for input. Select the correct one, and you're good to go. If you choose Mono, I believe the track then automatically becomes a mono track.
Hope that helps.

Sometimes mono tracks wont record to mono if you have a two input interface (it happens with my Zoom R24 on a few tracks). So just use that to make the signal mono.
First of all, I think he is trying to record in stereo and isn't able to do so. Pushing the interleave button is just going to take that left signal and make it into a L/R Mono track.
Even so, if he was trying to get to mono, I'm not sure pressing the interleave would be the way to go. You can, in SONAR, make tracks mono, or stereo, after the fact via one of the dropdowns somewhere. I never need to, so can't swear to where it is located, but maybe on the track menu.
My interface is also a two input one, but I can unplug one of the input and make it a mono one, and I can also just select the Input as Left (mono) which does so as well. The only issue is if you have a stereo signal, into a stereo input, then you'd want to record in stereo obviously, which is what he is saying he wants to do. Therefore, he should select the stereo input for his device.
