Need Help

Whenever I get on Counter Strike Source, it loads uup and everything but right after the valve screen it just freezes, I uninstalled and reinstalled, and it didn't help at all. It usually works fine, but now it won't work, can someone help?

My friend is having a similar problem with his HL2-based games. They freeze up when trying to enter the Multiplayer menu. I'm having my own seperate issues.
