I'd recommend a 360 controller, but if you want something a bit cheaper, I think the Logitech F310 is a pretty good choice. Just make sure that the switch on the back of the Logitech controller is set to X, and it should work fine.
The Logitech F310 has kinda bad triggers, though, so you might want to shop around and see if you can find something better that's still Xinput-compatible in leu of buying a 360 controller.
while rogue is possible on keyboard, its much easier on a gamepad. though spelunky is fine, even though I have a controller I use a keyboard.
If you ever get super meat boy though, get a controller.
All you need to do is rebind all your keys to buttons that you're comfortible with. Every game I play I bind keys to similar actions so I know exactly what to do.
