Is there a no ghost mod?
Is there a mod that makes the ghost not come after 2:30? I absolutely hate the ghost.

No, only for the original. Currently the only mods that can be done are to the sound, music and graphics.

Man up.

$15 wasted. Sandbox-level type game with tons to explore...and a 2 minute timer no matter what. That, my friends, is damn ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I should learn to play faster? Go f*ck yourself. Don't you have to be at the gym in 26 minutes?

Now, if they bring back mods into this version (Steam Workshop!), allowing players to choose their play options, then I'll pick it back up.

It was never advertised as a "Sandbox Level type game" but as a rouge-like platformer, Research your games before blindly buying them.
Yes you should learn to play faster, 2:30 minute might not seem like much but when you can beat most levels in 15 seconds it is plenty of time when you learn to prioritize.

Self-censoring is always funny to me.

There's a button for running...use it.

Nowhere does Spelunky advertise itself as a sandbox game (and no, 'destructable environments' does not automatically equal 'sandbox game'), and it's no one's fault but your own if you bought a game without looking into it first. This version of Spelunky had already been out for a year on the 360, and the 2008 freeware version still has all the core gameplay elements, including the ghost (which ran on the exact same timer then as it does now), so there's no shortage of information, reviews, and videos.

Lol what exactly did you think this game was when you bought it? It's certainly not a sandbox explorer.

You should learn how to use a search engine. Any search engine could have sent you a variety of links that would have shown you that this game is certainly not a sandbox explorer.

It's clearly advertised as a "rogue-like". On the store page, the first entry under Key Features says:

"Randomly-generated, fully-destructible levels are dense with danger. Quick thinking and a deep understanding will keep you alive along the knife's edge!"

Further down the Key Features list, it says:

"You're going to die in all kinds of painful, hilarious, and surprising ways. But with each mistake you'll learn more about how Spelunky works and get that much closer to solving its deepest mysteries!"

So I'm honestly not sure why you bought this expecting it to be a relaxing sandbox game.

I quite like the ghost. It was awkward when I first started playing, but it is more of a defense for kapala farming and other things, and really pressures you to complete the level quickly.

I usually hate timed levels in games and I was worried when I learned about the ghost at first. But I found that once I got better at the game I would almost never encounter the ghost unless I deliberately did something time-consuming, like trying to lug both the Idol, the Damsel and a weapon through the level, or using the Mattock to mine for gems, or spending too much time on the wheel of fortune.

I think it's necessary for game balance because it forces you to prioritize your run through a given level.

I've never heard of roguelikes having timed levels.
Imagine adding a timer to games like that?

I play Isaac a lot. so that would be my example.

if you all hate the ghost so much, then just learn a bit programming and make the mod yourself.
stop whining, just man/woman up and do the work yourself.

The levels aren't actually timed. In fact, you have unlimited time to complete each level. The ghost is just another obstacle that you have to negotiate while making your way towards the exit, and that's only if you dawdle since he doesn't even show up for 2 1/2 minutes, which is more than enough time to fully explore any given stage.
