Changing resolution = Crash

Just bought the game. I was skeptical about buying it during a sale, but after taking a quick look in Paypal I discovered a bit of left over cash in there, which was fortunately just enough to purchase this game. So I bought it and annoyingly, before I even get to play the game, changing the resolution (on Windows 8.1) to 1920x1080p, just causes the game to crash.

Would also be nice if I could disable my gamepad in the game without having to unplug it from the back of the computer each time.

Any ideas?

I changed it by the config, but it definitely needs fixing so it works through the menu instead.

Would be nice for an option to "drop" when hanging by pressing down on the D-Pad or S on the Keyboard. Would also like an option to disable game pad.
