Death Regret
I can't help myself, but each time I play a run and it goes poorly, I delete my save. I don't like this, is there a way to over-come it?

Going for a no death save? I tried to do it, but in the end it's not worth it. This isn't a game where you can control your death count unless you get better at it first.

I don't try to go for no-deaths, I just get angered at my stupidity because of those deaths. I mean, If I died at 4-4 i'd be fine with it, but mostly that's not the case.

Oh... well, that's another issue all together. Listen to some smooth jazz while playing Spelunky.

Every Spelunky player is stupid at first. And even the great ones probably have stupid moments now and then. It's normal.

For the record, I've beaten the game twice (back to back, as it happened) and I'm still quite stupid.

You should treat Spelunky more like a death simulator. Don´t take this game and yourself too serious and you will have way more fun.

I deleted my player stats recently so I could find the characters again. It made me realise I didn't care to much about my save. It saves your high score and quickest time permanently on the leaderboards anyway. Don't worry about a poor save, especially if you ever want to attempt a no gold run. Just keep playing and improve.

Yeah, like all the others said. Don't worry about stats. There are no prizes to be won by having 0 deaths. And dying is part of spelunky, especially the weird ones.

321
20 wins, with 16 in hell (I'm asuming those are the special wins)
Still got a long way to go before I get "addicted".
Oh, and before you say I'm bragging. I played tons of this on XBLA and my stats on that were probably around 800 deaths and 10-20 wins.

This game will mainly consist of deaths, You will die 1000 times before you reach the Ice Caves Regularly. If you feel improved, then you can reset your save and do alot of the things again if you want not many deaths.

"You will die 1000 times before you reach the Ice Caves regularly." I already do reach it regularly, without 1000 deaths. Anyways, thanks!

One way to overcome this would be to blame the character. If he dies just realise that he deserved it for _________ (not jumping on the bat, not running over spikes, just fill in whatever)

Or you can just chill and make fun out of it like when i wanted to go into worm level starting from jungle and just lost 2 HPs at the start, what i done next was. "Okay cool, let's hug the tiki trap"

The other day I unlocked a character in the Castle and he promptly killed me with the shield I left lying around. Way to show gratitude...

Unlocking characters can be hazardous to your health!
