Worth it at $15? . . .
. . . Or will the original free version suffice? Is there really that much difference to warrant a 15$ price tag?

I really enjoy rogue-lik(t)es. How does this one compare to others you've played?

嫌15刀贵了去买慈善包,这种已经白菜价的东西现在问值不值15刀,不明觉厉

worth if you like platformers and roguelikes. also pretty challenging, but i think the constraints are toned down enough to master it, like its pretty challenging, but feels fair.. i never feel robbed when i die, which can happen with unbalanced hardcore roguelikes. tons of hidden stuff. 15 is a totally fair price.

I had the free version before I got it and I have to say....It was worth it! Better control more enemies more levels more items MORE EVERYTHING! (more music)

Here, I brought you this link.[gaming.stackexchange.com] The first answer on the link is a simple rundown of the differences, and there's a more detailed list a little below that. Spelunky HD also has an optional timer to help you track when the ghost is showing up, which is great for beginners and pros alike.

Even without the gameplay additions, it's so much nicer to play Spelunky HD than it ever was to play Spelunky. I enjoy pixel art as much as the next guy, but the new art makes the game a lot nicer to play because you can easily tell what's going on.

As long as you're cool with the idea of a punishing permadeath platformer then it's easily worth the $15.

Man you must be a lot better than me, or at least more humble. Almost all my Spelunky sessions end in a fit of rage and vulgarity after a single slip up gets me stunlocked for 5 seconds while being juggled between several enemies, and finally dropped onto some instant-kill spikes for good measure

Other than those ridiculous situations, I'd agree that it's fair. It's certainly refreshing to play a game that forces you to step up to its challenge rather than babying you.

I'd say deaths in Spelunky are fair maybe 75% of the time. Maybe a bit higher. If you can tolerate the rest of that percentage then get it because outside of some BS ways to die its a really great game.

Well I got this on sale when it was 3.75. It was terribly hard and discouraging at first. But with the help of my kid( who has the xbox version) it got a little easier. I've played almost 400 hours and done all but 2 achievements. Now I just play at the end of a day after playing other games. It's still fun and frustrating.

Ugh it's so hard, but it's not fun hard. I really like Dark Souls for it's difficulty, but it doesn't make you start over from the beginning of the entire game. Each time I die I wouldn't say I'm learning something new, which is key with these types of game over again games.

The randomization is supposed to make replaying fun, but it's the reason why half the players will never learn how to get better. Another thing is that the randomization just reinforces how repetitive and ugly the game is. This is just my opinion. I'd say that if you buy it, you'll regret it if you're not good at it. That's a pretty high risk when buying a game, so unless you already played it and know you're good enough to get out of the mines, don't buy it.

I hope that's fair enough to avoid the haters, cuz I really feel like saying this game is ♥♥♥♥ing overrated indie ♥♥♥♥ over and over. Oops I said it :P

Good luck with your decision.
