Using a controller?
I watched the PDP video and MaskedGamer's preview of AMFP, I noticed their controls seem to mention a blue X button and something else which I don't know. Are these special pc game controllers or something? Or did they connect a console controller to their pc? I'm thinking about maybe trying this too, because I've noticed playing Amnesia with the keyboard of my laptop was difficult sometimes, especially when I had to rotate stuff.

This game is partial controller support, I am just going to suggest he was using an Xbox controller.

One of the devs apparently used an Xbox 360 controller for Windows to play through the whole game - didn't need to use his keyboard/mouse at all to play it.

so anything that is ximput/xperia would work
even a Logitech F310 reads as an xbox 360 controller

all gamepads/xbox controllers will work for this game.

you can even use any playstation controller too, but you will need to download DS3 Tool for that to work.

But I bet my Logitech Wireless Rumblepad 2 would not be supported as usual. Game creators hate this old, but good controller from some reason. Sad!

i use a logitech F310, all logitech gamepads have an option to use Xinput, just set the slider on the back to X (not D, which is direct input, meaning you would have to use logitechs software to mount the keys urself...)
x input is basically an xbox 360 controller, or xperia.

Hmm, looks like my Wireless Rumblepad 2 wouldn't be supported again.

I played through TDD with a 360 controller and Xpadder, worked wonderfully. I wonder if the controller controls will be close to the controls I used for TDD.

In order to use the classic logitech Rumblepad 2 you have to download software called x360ce and put it into the same folder as the game executable. Run it once and then you can use your Rumblepad 2, thats what I do, it makes it work with any game that supports xbox controller.

x360ce unfortunately does not work with this game. I even tried to rename xinput1_3.dll at other options (1_1, 1_2, 9_1_0), but this game does not want to see my controller. there may be other uses for this emulator?

so you havent tried it without the emulator? or just with that xinput file.... well then
try this http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows
no joke it will be used for drivers with controllers with similar layouts and would then read as an xbox 360 controller or x input device.

No, friend, you got that wrong. I do not have the controller on the xbox, I have a simple gamepad Sven with direct-INPUT method. x360se great play Skyrim, Max Payne, Alan Wake and other games, but for some reason does not work with AAMFP. Maybe I do something wrong?
upd.: without emulator gamepad does not work with this game at all.

DONT USE DIRECT INPUT!
use Xinput, ALL Logitech gamepads have this!!!
thats the controller compatability that they mean to have,
any game you could use direct imput and mount the keys and buttons yourself, but if a game is compatable with a controller you are to set it to X INPUT.
also having the drivers for xbox controllers COULD help with x input use since it has the drivers for it.
x input INHERITS what the game already has set for controllers that have 2 thumbsticks, start select, 2 triggers, 2 bumpers and 4 buttons. only use direct input if a game has NO controller compatability....
