Publishers must be disappointed...or optimistic...
Does anyone else wonder why they just didn't call this one Myst: Amnesia Style? The game is boring and lacks soul. Theres no fear or anything else to keep the player interested enough to keep going. The pig monsters don't even come off as anything the player needs to be concerned about. With all that aside I do see amazing potential for the Amnesia game engine. Imagine how scary an Alien themed game would be. Stuck on a Weyland Yutani ship with a couple aliens aboard. Would be an amazing, genuine Ellen Ripley experience. Ok modders, hop on it. Make some gold outa this crap!

Why bother with the story uh?
Equalvision 11 grudnia 2013 o 16:26
There is a story in there, but you can't have a game without gameplay. As is, the game pretty much only involves wandering around a big mansion and some industrial areas while periodically having to tip toe around a Man Bear Pig.
illgib 11 grudnia 2013 o 17:20
Game mechanics please, gameplay it's another thing.
And indeed without story you don't have a game too, just a (boring) puzzle.
Why so much hate for story driven game today? Back in the day they where praised fro they way to introduce story in that game that never had before one.
And you still pretty much press W for a bunch of hours listening to story brunches, in every single videogames since 1997. Prove me wrong.

I say a couple of things.
Don't like it? Don't play it, nobody force you to like it.
You prefer more scary games? Play more scary games then, there are plenty out there where's the problem?

Indeed, i pre-ordered it at day one and i like it, so what's your point?

I agree with you. I also pre-ordered the game the day I found it on Steam and why? Because not only was I interested in the next Amnesia game but also was I interested in the story. I like to play horror-games for this "You-don´t-know-what-and-when-it-happens" feeling if you know what I mean and AMFP did this for me. Maybe it´s just that I´m easily scared but I found the dosis (if this is the right word to use) of horror perfect - not to much, not to less.
In one point I must correct you: How can you say to someone "Don´t like it? Don´t play it." if this person has never played this game or see something from it before? I can just say that if the expectations of persons were to high and they became disappointed that is their problem.

I am little girl. I like playing dolls because am stupid. I just made a doody in my pants. I read words and mummy says I go to college one day! Daddy, daddy, please don't kill me.

Your post is nonsense. Real simple. My point is...I paid for an Amnesia game. I didn't GET an Amnesia game. So now, because I can't get my money back, I'm going to try and get my money's worth by bashing it mercilessly, because at least THAT is entertaining. I'm glad you like it! Please don't be lame and spoil the fun. AMFP publicly sucks, and everyone else that feels that way just wants to get SOMETHING out of it, even if it's just a few laughs.
You could try to be helpful in that regard instead of feigning disbelief. C'mon man. Like, come ON.
Again.
Wat?
So, if i like something that you didn't, make me a little girl?
And it's really impossible that you bought it totally blindfold, you had to see the teaser at least and where clear that the Chinese Room where on the wheel, so your fault if you think that a title made a game.
And your words:
"I'm NOT saying it needs to return to every aspect of TDD, and it can't progress, but Frictional needs to do it (or specifically whoever or whatever team came up with the whole sanity/darkness/light/right-behind-you gameplay ideas that made TDD stand out) if they're gonna put their name on it."
So, what you want? Not the same game but the same things? Make up your minds first?

When i say "Don't like it don't play it" i'm telling somone who's playing and hating it. What's use in keep playing something that i don't like? I haveplenty of games and movies that i don't like, so? I've uninstaleld them and stop, no harm at all, sometimes happen, i can't like everything, nore you or him. So can someone explain me that new trend to bashing games that didn't meet personal expectacions?

If you ask me I think it´s because of the money. The games they bought didn´t happen to be as they thought and so they complain about it because they paid for it. I experienced this situation by another game. It has issues with the online-mod so the makers of the game are working on a solution people complain about the game not being funtional even so the rest of the game works fine. Some also speak about refund. That´s the reason I first get informations about a game before I buy a game unless I don´t have special expectations.

dude, dude, dude...try to be entertaining. Puh-leeze. No one's calling you a little girl...in real life. Me: I'm saying you SOUND like a little girl in your posts. Specifically a little girl who reads at a second grade level and thinks the other kids are just trying to upset her when they say *spoiler alert* the Tooth-fairy ain't the person leaving a quarter under yer pillow. At the end of the day, you and I are BOTH idiots: me for buying this crap-snake of a game and you for finding it interesting. I'm not saying you aren't entitled to being an idiot, or sounding like one. I'm just saying you sound like the pot calling the kettle black. At least have a sense of humor about it, and try describing how ludicrous you find my position in at least terms that evoke a smile or a "oooo that's a good one, ya got me that time". Sheesh. How can you manage to "get" the story of the game and NOT "get" what it is I'm doing? Or not "get" how scary-game fans could be legitimately pissed at Chinese Room. Blark.
Why am I supposed to be an idiot? You know that every person is individual and if I say "I liked the game" then it´s my opinion and that´s it. I can understand that many people who expected a scary game can be disappointed and also angry about it but is it right to make a game bad for other people who haven´t even bought it yet? If a person in a forum asks "How is this game?" and a lot of people would say "It´s bad don´t buy it" how can this person build his/her own opinion about it?

Still disappointed in how people consider this a bad horror game just for not being as in your face as the first Amnesia or the even-more-blunt Outlast. I love the fact that they took a step into even subtler horror than the first game.

Not all horror needs to be about the adrenaline rush of a monster chasing you down. Pigs used those moments rarely but effectively. Instead though it filled the game with psychological mind tricks and disturbing details through the story. It always had the feeling that something was off as it went from shifting objects such as stuffed owls and pig masks while you weren't looking, all the way up to doorways and entire halls.

It's like saying Silent Hill 2 was a terrible horror game because it made its enemies easy to walk right past outside of a few instances. Some people did actually complain back then that it wasn't as scary as the first - but now it's widely considered a classic. Because there is more to it than just the thrills of a monster chase. And I think that applies to Pigs just as well, hell even the first Amnesia but sadly not that many people look past the surface in that game.

And i can point out thousands of rants against The Dark Descent, saying the same exact things of A Machine for Pigs, boring, clueless, no story at all, stupid monsters. and so and so....
I bet Soma will be more like Machine than Dark Descent (they said that where what Dark Descent should be from beginning) but majority will be "Great games Finally!" because Frictional did it.
Who are the fanboys out there?

Also, I really hope you're not actually a little girl. I would feel terrible about writing this if that were the case. Then again...the internet.

*Hello? Hello? Nobody's there?*
So what's your point? I still don't get, sorry.
You feel entitled to lost time on a forum of a game you hate for the sake of it, instead of moving on something more in your likes and money worth?
illgib 16 grudnia 2013 o 16:42
You problem buying it totally blindfold (i still don't get how you couldn't even see a single screen or ear news about it before, Google maybe? It's one of your best friend out there)
illgib 16 grudnia 2013 o 16:43
But you can pretty lead the discussion by your own, looks like you're pretty good talking with yourself.
