Hotlane - The Competitive PvE Map (PvP)
I present it to you my friends, the first (indirect) PvP map of Hammerwatch : Hotlane

Okay, I admit it, it's not a REAL PvP Map because the game does not manage different factions of players on a same map at the moment. So what I created is a competitive PvE map : each player progress in his lane (4 players, 4 lanes) by killing monsters, avoiding traps, openning doors to reach the final boss and kill it. The goal is simple, the first player that kills the boss win. Seems easy isn't it ? The thing is, the other players will progress in their lanes, and by pressing buttons they will inflict disavantages to other lanes (more traps, less mana/healing items, less potions, less upgrades). And you'll be unable to activate the same disadvantage to their lanes... You get it ? You have to be the first to press certain buttons to slow other players.

Moreover, each player starts with the same amount of money and they will have to create a build for the whole map with the 4 shops... And there's no turning back, you choose the wrong upgrades ? Deal with it, you'll loose for sure, you'll choose a better build next time.

Add to this a random upgrades pickup generator at a given frequency and a very nervous gamplay (all movement speed are raised !) : you get one the funiest community created multiplayer map of Hammerwatch.

You can try it and tell me what do you think about it. Actually, I know that the randomly generated upgrade pickups doesn't work as intended (they are effective on every player, what I want is upgrades for only the player who pick them up, I'll have to work a bit about it), but the map is fully playable and somewhat balanced if you take the ultimate skill of your class.

Thanks Hipshot. By the way with pick up upgrades, is there a mean to uprade only the stats of the player who picks them up ? Because when I played this map with HP pool with a friend, we got both the upgrades while only one of us picked the upgrades.

We designed it so that everyone gets the upgrade, to avoid loot wars, stealing and grief. If you beg myran, he might be able to develop some kind of tag inside the xml for private upgrades... but I woulden't bet on it!!!!!!!1

Up. The pickup upgrades generator will be removed in the next patch because it can't be tweaked to fit a competitive map.

The map is still in development, but it's totally playable, don't forget to give info about the class balance if you test it :)
