xbox 360 controller support needs to be addressed

the game will not let me use the xbox 360 controller. i bought the damn thing just for this game and it will not work. i have a friend who uses his no problem and yet mine refuses to function. i installed the drivers from microsoft, restarted. still nothing. i can edit the options in the game using the controller but as soon as i exit the options and try to move around or do anything at all i get no response from the game. GREAT WASTE OF 40 BUCKS FOR THE CONTROLLER AND ANOTHER 10 BUCKS FOR THIS GAME.

I'm sorry to tell you boy, but the problem is on your side - not on the games side. Make sure the controller is connected to your system and clearly identified before starting the game. Also make sure there is no other controller connected.

Nevertheless, you can still use the controller for many many many other games, so it is not 40 bucks wasted.

xbox 360 controllers works just find because I use one everyday. You need to go to microsoft's website and install the correct drivers for it. Once you have that done if it's wireless than you need to power on the controller before starting the game.

I'm using my 360 controller fine as well. Could be an issue with Hammerwatch, but it's more likely it's somewhere on your side.

Address it with a cheapo Logitech Gamepad F310, found on craigslist, ebay, and amazon for less than 5 USDollars, which are practically worthless anyhow. Why you paid $40 for a freaking Xbox controller is insane in the first place... Pawn shops sell them for 10 USdollars...

Hey, I played this game with a friend in couch coop, he has 2 gamepad: 1 logitech rumblepad f310 and 1 xbox 360 controller. Both worked perfectly :)
I'm pretty sure that your issue is on your side.
Is your gamepad working with Steam BigPicture mode? Can you select games from your library using gamepad up and down, for example?

Is your 360 controller wired or wireless?
With some game we had problems with the wireless one.
40usd are something like 30eur, here in Italy isn't a bad price.

I use a wired xbox 360 controller. When I first loaded the game and tried to play it wasn't working. I found that I had to go into the menu options and turn Player 1 control scheme from keyboard to controller. So I suggest you check that first.

Have you ever had Motion In Joy installed on your machine? It screws things up with a real XBOX controller until you take extensive steps to completely remove the drivers it installs. It may work at times but then cause hangs or other peculiar issues.

I started playing the game last night using a wireless 360 controller, and the first time I actually started / entered the tower my controller didn't work at all.... For some reason the game had forgotten that I had set player one to use controller (even though I had been using the controller in the menu), and had changed itself back to keyboard for player one's input. Kind of wierd but once I changed it back the controller worked flawlessly for gameplay.

Two simple things people forget about. One, have your controller on before you run Hammerwatch. Two, make sure your player one controls is set to controller. My friend made those mistakes.

This. The controller is not enabled by default on several of my computers for some reason.
