If you do get any issues, you can always run the game in Windows 7 compatibility mode. That solves most issues in Windows 8.1.

Well, I think the issue is the surface pro. Even though it looks like windows 8, the surface has a custom OS.

The Surface Pro runs a standard version of Windows 8 Pro - it's the Windows RT Surface that uses a special OS. That being said, I believe the display scaling and the special hardware of the Surface Pro might be causing issues. I'm having the same problem with 'Papers Please Has Stopped Working', so I'm in the process of testing out various compatibility modes.

Edit: Looks like it's a known issue based on the support site. It suggests updating graphics drivers might work, though the Pro's drivers are not stock Intel drivers, so I haven't tried that yet. http://papersplea.se/support/

One last Edit: Check out this thread, get the suggested drivers -and- make sure to hide the update that Windows 8 wants to install after you've updated your drivers, otherwise it will roll them back to the old ones. I got Papers, Please to work just fine using them. http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/microsoft/56752-surface-pro-hd4000-issues.htmlhttp://forum.tabletpcreview.com/microsoft/56752-surface-pro-hd4000-issues.html

This worked. You have to go through the Intel drivers manually and look for version 3071 (there's a later version that says it's also for Intel Iris that doesn't work with the Surface Pro). The game works in full-screen if you like using the trackpad or have a mouse. Use windowed mode if you want to use touch. Someone in another thread mentioned they didn't have a keyboard attached, implying that this had to be the case for it to work - works fine on mine without detaching the keyboard.
