Overated, Underwhelming, Repetitive 4/10
Try before you buy! I would recommend this game to anyone with OCD but otherwise the repetition will grind you down after a couple hours. It has a few "cute" quirks which deserve some faint praise. This actually lifts my overall rating to 4/10.

IMO this is a really good game! I bought in at the full price of $10 and consider every penny well earned by the creator and great deal to boot! Last I saw Papers, Please was on sale for 50% off! A even better buy for a clever, thought provoking Indie game that just gets more interesting as one goes along. I should note I can't get past the 1st few days without getting arrested for debts but getting better at the clerical skills each time. I'll beat this yet... Glory to Arstotzka!

It depends really, I played the beta and I found myself playing it again and again just looking what different results I could get (shame ic an't afford to buy it right now)

It's understandable tho that some people might find it repetitive tho

Some games I play for the mechanics, some games I play for the graphics/sound, some I play for the theme.

Guess which one this is? Games As Art, children.

hey dumb ♥♥♥♥, that's a delebirate design choice to further immerse you into the world of arstotzka. This game is a work of art, since it immerses you into their world so much, the charactors that dont even have a name will be loved by you, you feel sorry for them when they are sick, you feel sorry for yourself when you are broke and cant support your family. If you really say this is too much like real work, id kill to have your job

I didn't find the graphics that realistic or immersive.

Why do we keep feeding this troll? Yeah me too, I'm so ♥♥♥♥ed that the dev team didn't spend the big bucks on CryEngine3, bro...

Hey, calm down. OP posted their opinion and gave some valid reasons for it. The game isn't for everyone. Some people might love Dump Truck Simulator 3000, others might find it tedious and boring. It's important to have a balance of opinions with games, and OP raised some valid points.

There's no way I'm going to play through this game 20 times to unlock each ending. After the first 4 or 5 playthroughs, it does start to get repetitive.

I don't consider 4 nameless, faceless icons to be immersive characters. The best strategy for doing well in this game is to alternate heating and food, which saves you 15 credits a day. There's no descriptions of the accomodation, characters or anything that might make the money management aspect immersive.

The puzzle side of the game was pretty good, but it's not a smash hit blockbuster game. I'm certainly going to spend a few more hours playing it before I set it aside for a while, but I think you're overdoing the praise of the game. OP probably overdid the criticism a bit, too. It's a good game, but in my opinion, it's nowhere near as addictive as FTL or Don't Starve, for example.

I guess you only played 5 minutes and then decided the rest of the game would be the exact same?

No. A lot of events happens and people come along, with their own little side-quests, decisions you have to make besides deny/approve, endings you can find, achievements to get. It's not that repetitive.
chris1980 Dec 10, 2013 @ 3:59pm
Yeah like I say, it has some amusing quirks but what it boils down to is that this game has hours of repetitive grinding. My life doesn't need even more repetition or boredom. 4/10.
SuperWingsy Dec 11, 2013 @ 10:52pm
it's not as repetitive if you avoid binge-playing it.
