Debt question
I've played through the story twice in a row and both times at the end of day 5, I have been in debt by $5 and therefore am detained and get a game over. My question is what do I need to do to avoid being in debt?

You always see what you did wrong. If its always the same pay more attention to it.

Process people faster.
Don't make more than two mistakes per day.
Alternative between heat and food.
Consider taking bribes (but not if they're too large) and detaining entrants more often later on.

You get paid for people you let in but you get deductions if you make more than 2 mistakes. To make more money you have to process faster but without making more than a couple mistakes.

Just keep playing it over and over. You'll get faster and better at noticing discrepencies.

Alternatively, you can enter settings and enable the easy mode. This will give you 20 dollars at the end of each day and has no negative effect on gameplay.

Go into settings and turn easy mode on, which gives you 20 credit to help out at the end of each day. Also, you can try to alternate food and heat each day.

Take all the bribes! One guy gave me his wrist watch and some money, and then i denied him and detained too and then sold the watch for a present for my son! Ace gameplay :D

A big thing to remember is you do not need to point out discrepancies until it requires you to. For example: if someone does not provide an entry ticket, you don't need to point that out, you can just deny them and be over with it.

You can also deny anyone with suspicious information without question: it's not your job to up to date information, it's theirs.

While that's true, you only get paid for admitting people so turning them away for correctable errors like missing paperwork (interrogate and they may give it to you) or incorrect reason/duration of visit (interrogate and they will always correct themself) just means you make less money. If it's something that can't be corrected, like out-of-date or forged documents, then you should deny them straight away.

If you go to your settings, you can activate easy mode. It will automatically give you 20 credits at the end of each day.

Think of it as a paycheck, with each person you process being a bonus to that paycheck.
