Start the game and press ctrl-f1 to go to keymapper. And mouse is already supported, only press mouse button in the game or press ctrl+f10.

My advice to you is to do the following:

1.) Search Google for "GZDoom" and download it.
2.) Extract it into your Heretic folder on Steam.
3.) Delete Dosbox.exe
4.) Rename GZDoom.exe to 'Dosbox.exe'
5.) Select "Heretic" when you open on Steam.

This will allow you to play the game with a higher resolution (I play it on 1440x900 with minimal HUD), mouse look, and WASD movement. This also allows you to use GZDoom with Steam Console, and it allows you to log your time with Heretic as well.

Let me know if you have questions. The same process works for Ultimate Doom.

How exactly do I go about doing this on Vista buddy? it's been a long time since I've used my PC. Can't help but feel like it's going to take me ages to get this all going, I don't see why they didn't incorporate WASD movement in the first place. The original game did have it way back when, Heretic was one of the first games I played :) Along with Duke Nukem 3D :D any help would be great thanks.
- Jack.

Move to windows 7, vista is really bad.

Yo, i realize this post was alittle bit ago, but i just recently did this. FIrst off let me say im lovin it. Controls are so much better, and the improved textures are a little easier on the eyes. Im having one problem though. No sound FX. I can get music through the windows gs wave tab, but thats only music. I did some digging to try and get fmod to work by downloading fmodex.dll and extracting it to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ as directed by the readme.txt Any advice?

Looks like you deleted Dosbox.exe but forgot to rename your new gzdoom.exe to the exact same name (so steam could find it).

If I wanted this for the other DOOM games and such, would I have to add GZDoom to every games' folder then?

Thanks a lot for this, it's awesome! Does this work for Doom II and Final Doom as well?
