Yes, you can use it with Steam in Offline mode.
Thank you for your quick answer.
But, when I launch SD, the connection window appears and if I don't connect to my account, SD doesn't start.
What should I do to use SD without connecting ?

I am on Mac

Thank you

@stakycake I don't know what's wrong on your side. But, I just tried it in offline mode and it seems to work fine.

Hello,

Thank you for you answer Iamcreasy.

I don't know too unfortunatly.
If I click either on the shortcut of the app or the app itself, the box of steam appears, asking me to connect on my account.
If I say "no", SD doesn't start.
That means I can't work without connection, and it's very annoying !

Are you on a Mac too ?
May be it's a specific issue to Mac ?

By connect do you mean boot up steam?
Simply is Steam actually in offline mode? or is the process closed?

You will need to have Steam in offline mode if it is the former. You can either go into offline mode in the top left options box of the main Steam window. Or if you have logged in before connect straight into offline mode.
@stakycake Yeh, its like what NonStopStorm says. You have to restart steam in offline mode. You can still run steam and run games that doesn't require active Internet connection in offline mode.

You can activate it by Steam(toolbar) > Go Offline...
Hi,

First of all, thank you very much for your interest on my issue and sorry if I'm not clear, english is not my native language.

So I found the "offline mode" in the toolbar and it works. I no longer need to connect to work with SD. Thank you.

One more question (sorry, I'm very new with steam).
Does steam must run if I want to work with SD (or any of the software bought in its site) ?
No problem. Also your english is fine. That issue is just a simple having done it once now you know it type thing.

The answer to your last question, generally yes. Steam is a form of DRM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management though it is one of the nicer ones with things like offline mode and various other features. I have heard of a handful of games that do not require it, but I would not count on yours being one. Also some games(ubisoft comes to mind) actually boot up some other launcher made by the developers who are trying to further add to what Steam already achives(ubisoft in this case lets you do cross-platform achivments).

I do have some rule of thumb suggestions I always use. First open the program at least once online for setup. Second offline requires closing steam while logged in, this means if your laptop is online and you log in on your desktop your laptop will no longer be able to go offline. However if your laptop is online and you then set steam to offline mode or close steam and restart with no internet connection then you can log in on your desktop with no issues.
Well, thank you very much for all those explanations. They help me a lot to understand how steam works.
Hope I will be able to help people in the futur as you help me now. ;)
