Blacula: The Big Black Dracula Jun 19, 2013 @ 11:21am
Considering grabbing this
I'm getting paid on Friday and may grab this just a couple of questions:
1. Does it work with CE3? I see UDK, Maya, and some others, but no mention of CE3.
2. Does it have a steep learning curve?
3. If I buy non-commercial edition can I upgrade to Commercial use later on minus a $100 on the price?

@Blacula
1. It works fine with CE3 by just exporting bitmaps from Substance Designer. There is non native support of the substance format though.
2. We provide numerous video tutorials available here: http://www.allegorithmic.com/tutorials/. Usually, one becomes familiar with the tool in 1 to 2 days
3. Ye, there is an upgrade path from the non commercial to the commercial license that costs 491 USD (so 590 - 99 USD)

Hope it helps!

UDK is a game engine and Maya isn't a dedicated texturing tool. Substance Designer a fully fledged texturing solution.

What are you planning on?
