To anyone who has bought this: Is it worth it?

Is the program user friendly? Does it have any major bugs? Please supply us peons with some useful information from someone with hands on experience using this program.

I trust the common user much more than any review site or developer claims.

It's definitely worth it - once it works (I use the non-steam version all the time at work). Right now the executable does not run. It just pops up the missing executable message whenever you try to launch it.

We are looking into the issue with Valve. It seems only the Mac version is causing trouble right now. Thanks for your patience.

The Mac issue has been solved. Everything seems to be working as expected now. Let us know if you are still experiencing trouble.

I'm itching to try this out, I know this would save me lots of time if it's actually as good as it looks.

You will never look back after you start using, no adverse side effects.

If it doesn't support POFs (Parallax Object Files), it's not worth it.

If I'm not mistaken, POF files are very specific to the Freespace engine. I'm pretty sure no other software has direct support for those. SD allows you to import OBJ, FBX or even DAE files though.

I have no clue how you could come up with such idea.

As a game designer, I have to say that within a few hours of getting it, I was able to turn photos (good ones, taken for texture use) into full materials that include specular/normal maps with minimal effort. Overall, it has a LOT more options to offer, but it works great even without knowing how to deal with high end options.

I think this tool will make an excellent tool for texture designers. In addition, the exported materials can be dropped straignt into Unity3d, making it even more useful to me.
