Game no longer starting up

I picked up this game and it worked fine on the first two launches. After playing it for a bit, I left for a break, and after coming back, it would no longer start up. Instead, I either get a black screen, or after the Adult Swim Games logo flashes, I receive an error message saying that the game is no longer responding. Some other times I also get a message saying that there is no audio device detected, and the program closes. I've tried restarting my Steam client and disabling the Steam Overlay, but neither of them have changed anything. Help?
