BattleBlock Theater

SteamOS/GNU Linux support
I like this game, especially 1000000000p graphics and hair simulation. But will there be a Linux version? I would buy this game on release day if it had proper Linux support.

Actually what engine are they even using? I was going to guess XNA but it's not in redistributables.

Great question. I've also been assuming XNA, but I can't find any official statements. If that's the case, I hope that they decide to look into MonoGame and/or hire some outside help.
Linux version will follow the Windows version
Woooooooooo!
Thanks!
Thaaaankl you ! :)
It's awesome to hear confirmation. :)
Yes! Sold!
Hey there, the way the announcement of the release date was phrased windows and linux will both be released on may 15th. Is that correct or was it phrased that way by accident?

You seemed to have been adament so far about the linux version following the windows release, so it would be nice if you could clear that up. Wouldn't want to get too excited if i still have to wait a little while longer. :)

I'm pretty sure they know how to use these key board thingies by now.

Maybe they took extra time to fix stuff reported in beta test that Linux port was done at the same time. That ain't no rocket science!
This is so exciting!

Looks like Linux version will be available at the release day.
I'd love to be optimistic about this, but considering this is their first linux port, I would've expected a seperate linux beta before the linux release or both betas at once. Plus, they've said on multiple occasions that they're working on one platform at a time, insinuating they haven't even started to work on the linux port yet. This announcement just doesn't quite match the answers previously given, which is why i'm sceptical.

It's of course entirely possibly that they've outsourced the linux port to one of the veterans, like ryan gordon. I'd be happy if there was linux support day 1, I'd just like to hear it from the horse's mouth before I start jumping up and down on my bed.
Well it shouldn't be that big project if they aren't using any microsoft specific stuff like XNA or DirectX. Still don't know what engine they use but must be some proprietary or something. Like you said maybe they outsourced or hired someone to make port. And we are talking about steam where they can patch things up whenever they like.
