No Combat?
Theres no combat, no way of fighting back. It looks great visually, but can't stand these types of games. Pity!

Well, not everyone will like every type of game.
I think the idea about this game is that your character won't have any weapons and will need to find ways to hide from, evade from, escape from the "monsters" rather than fighting them, therefore adding to the suspence, sense of vunerbility, and relying more on one's wits or stealth or simply running-your-butt-outta-there, and also increasing urgency & the fear factor ...whereas if you had a gun and simply shoot anything that moves, much of those elements would be greatly reduced or eliminated.

true survival horror right here. I like the fact theres no combat, knowing you cant kill the monsters chasing you,its like the Regenerators/Hunters in the Dead Space games....taunting you every 5 feet knowing you cant do ♥♥♥♥all against it. really ups the terror imo

Funny how some people want to add in the only thing that makes this game different.

Adding weapons would sadly turn this game into another RE/Alone in the Dark. Do not want that to happen.

Anyone who wants combat in games like these are just too scared and need to feel secure with their weapons. Take weapons away and people use lack of combat as an excuse to not play a game that WILL make them need a change of underwear.

Nah, if you add weapons then this would become an action title. It would destroy the whole theme and feel of the game. A horror game is supposed to make you feel vulnerable, weak, incompetent in this way it creates tention and ultimately creates that "fear".

Honestly, I think Resident Evil should've gone this route instead of the action shooter it is now.

You have to broaden your gaming horizons. Go off the beaten path and playing something new. You'll be pleasantly surprised. This game looks incredible! Work your way into these by playing a great game called Dear Esther. Believe it or not the less a game has the more it has.

too scared? you need a weap weap to feel secure? Seriously if the point is that you can't kill the enemies so what good is a weapon besides a safety blankie. *no harm intended, all in good fun

Now it'd be great if you started out with heavy weapons only to find out the don't help you at all. Now that would be a pleasant surprise. I suppose it would anger shooty bang bang kill bad guy I'm the best champion people into wanting refund, lmao.

Yes.

Adding combat to this game would be pointless. There's already enough games out there like that. The best thing about this game is it seems realistic ...as realistic as they can make a game filled with monsters anyway.

I wanted to buy this game but after finding out that there's no combat, I decided to pass. We already have Amnesia (Outlast since it is without combat, I think it too much resembles Amnesia gameplay-wise, especially since we're getting Machine For Pigs in just few weeks) and .

Why for a little bit different approach, we can't have the game looking like Outlast but which will give us opportunity to fight back?
Heck, if you would be closed inside this kind of asylum you would do anything possible to survive, including killing psychos who are trying to kill you.

If you would be kidnapped by some psycho who would torture you, and after some time you would have opportunity to make him suffer instead (maybe including killing him), wouldn''t you do it to survive?

Outlast without combat just feels too much like a copy of Amnesia. And I wanted to pre-order it yesterday :/.

Give me at least a few games like Amnesia or Outlast which include combat? I can recall none except Condemned. Do you recall more to support your statement ;)?

Condemned 2. Also, every other game in the horror game genre.

That's exactly what you said: "Adding combat to this game would be pointless. There's already enough games out there like that. The best thing about this game is it seems realistic ...as realistic as they can make a game filled with monsters anyway."

Since you wrote it in topic made specifically on Outlast boards, then give me the titles of some other games similar to this, but with combat (you said that there's already enough games like that out there) beside Condemned which are only 2, so you can't tell that it's enough.
