I need a little help.
I made a new world after the patch on the 31st and ive been having a problem with the tech plats. Basicly i play for hours and every one ive found says that i have already gotten it. I understand this is a game mechanic to keep people from rolling new worlds over and over to max it out. What im asking is, what am i doing wrong? I can explore caves all the way down to the 2nd biome and again and again it says ive already gotten the upgrade. Ive been deeper and max left right. What do i need to do to quit exploring brand new caves with dud platforms in them? Its totally not fun especially because at this point i have enough of everything where mining anything really isnt on my mind.

What do i need to do to quit finding the duds?

I spend 50 hours in the game after the patch already (i know) and having the same problem. fully explored 1st and 2nd biome till exposure warning with full tita armor. full t1 tech + 1 or 2 t2 tech pieces. but basically i hit a brick wall in the game. i have full chematic for outlander gear but cant get the mats for it. (the plasma trees) so i cant go down lower for more tier pieces.

I'm just gonna wait for the next patch that ups the spawn rate of the platforms the dev said he was gonna do it sometime

thanks for the replies. Im in that same boat with the outlander armor. I need it to go lower but the matts for it are lower than i can go with current exposure rate.

I find it very anoying to make a new map and find upgrade platform after upgrade platform thats already been used. I wish there was another way to do this because currently there are no chests in caves. I have a ton of all the material. I am litterally JUST looking for platforms. To explore cave after cave and find upgrade platforms that do nothing is like opening a big shinny present to find an old white, dry dog turd in the box.

I know they are going to tweak the platform spawn rate but really all that would do is make sure i find even more dud platforms. My issue is with a system that lets me discover and explore new caves with no reward other than my wasted time. What id really like is to better understand the mechanics of how this happens so i can avoid it!!

Denture I think you prob need to make a new map. I find the platforms at a good rate going in caves. I do not dig much. Work side to side searching for planetoids, down a little and more side to side, repeat.

Dentune, remember that the devs said, upgrades do not sit in smaller asteroids. They normally are deep inside large ones. And I mean REALLY large ones. Focus on running away from enemies (also dev recommendation) if you can get helix armor, you should be able to have more defense.

They are in natural cavities, grab torches and try to insert them into large floating asteroids. In my experience, the ones I found always had an entrance that if you took just the right path you would just get to it.. with the exception of a very difficult one, that I went to twice... was thinking it was empty, it wasn't. I went to the core, and tried placing torches inside rock. Out of pure luck I found an empty space and there it was.

But I also heard from one from the team, the limit is about 6 per world. That would totally suck since you'd need to make several worlds to get all of them. That would accumulate to about 45minutes to 1 hour per upgrade :/

Edit: here is the post, look what lordshaggy posted, that would just suck if it's true: http://steamcommunity.com/app/238240/discussions/0/846963165437200179/

"But I also heard from one from the team, the limit is about 6 per world"

It is not 6 per world but 6 per Biome. From what i understood each Biome has 6 Zones and each of that Zones should have one Platform.
So after finnishing the first Biome you should have one upgrade of each type.

Ah, thanks for clarifying that, I dunno how I missed that! World/Biome two very different things! This is very reassuring, thanks. I must be getting really sleepy.

Before the patch I didn't find any upgrade platforms. But after the patch I made a new world, and found 5/6 of the first tier upgrades and I have found 2/6 of the second tier upgrades. I would just run through the caves in planetoids, placing torches at intersections to remember where to navigate. I found that getting the gauss rifle from the weapon tech plat really accelerated my progression (kills most things in 1 hit, robots in a few hits).

Another great tip I have is, place torches in a pattern to tell where you've already been. Like I placed torches to form a number 1, 2, 3, 4, etc at the entrances where I found the upgrades.

And get this, any new character you create can find them too! I am really wishing for the devs to be extra nice and leave them that way. It would make it so much easier to upgrade avatars and all the effort you put into finding them in the first place which is NO easy task!

Agree Dentune, the community is very helpful. You do find every now and then, a troll who wants to bust your fun, but I am happy to say I haven't stumbled upon too many of them. Plus the EoS team is amazing to say the least.
