Broken first time set-up.

So, having not yet installed the game since the sales, yesterday i decided to download and play the DC for nostalgia's sake. However, upon trying to play, the first time set up gets stuck on makeappxml.exe (step 1 of 1). I left it for hours, no change. I completely wiped the game from my computer and reinstalled it - which took another day -, no change. Anyone know a workaround for this issue?
