Lagging/stuttering at times in game.
Hye guys,

I'm experiencing the odd bit of lagging and stuttering when playing the game and am wondering how to fix this.

I am running:
CPU: i5 4670k
GPU: gtx 770 2gb
Ram 8gb

In settings I have everything as high a possible, I figure this is an older game and my system should handle it. Any suggestions?

Common fix found online for stuttering problems, especially with Nvidia cards:

*CORRECT FIX* for FPS problems and stuttering. *NVIDIA ESPECIALLY*
There are a few different regedit fixes floating around right now. Most of them are parroting incorrect information from people guessing and trying things around the time the original game launched last year. Here is the correct and up to date information specifically for the Director's Cut:

Open regedit.exe

Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC
Change "AllowJobStealing" to a "0", keep it as Hex if asked

*IMPORTANT*
If you are an Nvidia user you also need to change:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC\Graphics
Set "ATIForceFetch4" to "0", keep it as hex if asked.

Doing this increased my framerate 40-60% and eliminated almost all frame drop and stuttering, I am using a GTX 760.

Disable triple buffering as well. it makes the game stutter more.

Awesome. Running smooth as butter now. Great game too.

Thanks for the tip. It runs smoothly now. However, the autosave feature remains which is the only time my game stutters or has a hitch (despite the game being installed on a SSD). Other than that, it's running in an acceptable manner.

I thought putting the settings on high would lag the game even more? Strange.

I have a 4460 and RX460, turned off AA and SSAO (didn't look good to me anyways) and it runs smooth now.

Oh my god! Thanks so much all of you! My issue is now gone as well and I can run this game as smoothly as I always imagined I would on max settings! Especially since I don't have it on Xbox anymore, so this is the only way I can play it. Now I can, and without the issues.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ DUDE, IT WORKS!

I have a good pc with an gtx 1060 6GB and was wondering why the game constantly kept freezing. Can't belive it has to do with the AMD graphics card code options (ATI).

Thank you so much!

I run it on a cheapo old system.

Windows 8.1
Intel I5-2320 3ghz
8 GB system Ram
Nvidia GT 1030 2gb DDR5

I tried almost everything adjusting settings in-game, certain registry settings like ATIForceFetch, and Nvidia Control Panel.

I was still getting stutter and lag pauses in places like Detroit. In the end I reverted everything to stock settings in-game and the ATIForceFetch registry change.

The biggest change however happened when I used the Nvidia Control Panel to change Vsync On to Fast Vsync globally. I tried all Vsync settings, but fast worked the best.

The game got extremely fast and even loads saves faster now.

Ive been struggling for a few days now, trying to make the game work smoother and this right here was the only thing that worked.

Going to NVIDIAs control panel and setting the Vsync to Fast.

Thanks for the tip, and hopefully it works for others too.

i reduced stuttering by set task priority to real time and core affinity only to some of cpu cores (1 to 6 on a ryzen R7).
regedit key and nvidia cpanel tweaks didn't make any difference on my configuration and the game was lagging/sttuttering and freezing even if i force fast sync at stable 120fps or above on RTX 2070 super.

From another discussion I found...

Type in regedit.exe

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC

Set D3D11_CREATE_DEVICE_PREVENT_INTERNAL_THREADING_OPTIMIZATIONS to 1

In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC, locate AllowJobStealing and set it to 0

In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eidos\Deus Ex: HRDC\Graphics, locate AtiForceFetch4 and set it to 0

This worked for all problems, even the FPS aim stutter. You must *restart the PC for it to work*.
