viking helmets...
for a long time people thought horned helmets never existed in viking culture, even though the romans claimed their ancestors wore them - anyway the viking tapestry of Oseberg showed this, discovered in a viking burial:

its been speculated that it might have been used by vikings cheitain during cermonies. but with that said, maybe its time to end the bs that horned helmets was never used by the vikings.

ps! I know the comment said, maybe a God, but thats one guys opinion over the internet- I heard other professors who all say cermonial helmets for chieftains or during raids as a powerful icon, then removed in battles.

And no, im not saying its 100% proven they used horned helmets, I just wanted to show that people who claim there is no evidence of horned helmets are not being honest - because its been on sculptures, paintings and they even found helmets with horns.

Which renders helmets of any type, quite unusable by them! :Arberrang:

Anyway, back to the OP, I wasn't aware that there was so much strife over whether the vikings used horned helmets or not =/ Thanks for clearing that out.

How about we also stop using Viking as a noun, when it was actually a verb?

well, ask any swedish person what viking means and he thinks of northmen/scandinavians during the 700-1000 AD period.
Now its true what you said, vikings=piracy basically or raiding...well some fought for revenge etc so not all piracy but it was an act of going out in war because vik/viken (the name viking came from) is bay or cove in english - which basically means a warrior is heading for the sea where his boat is to plunder or fight.
