Can it end the same way ?
I have been watching this game thread for sometime and being an RPG/Adventure fan who played the original relaease of this game I was very intersted in buying it. So with all the problems and patches I have held off. Now when I see that GG was selling it with 75% off I just had to give this a go.

Now when I played the original I spent time building my team exploring everywhere etc etc and was quite enjoying it when I got a message come up that the Orcs had invaded and it was GAME OVER, WHAT! an RPG stops you playing after all that time building characters and exploring etc etc etc, an RPG with a time limited, not on I thought at the time.

Please please tell me this version can not end in the same way, because as I say NO RPG should end like like.

I see your point and I was dissapointed the same way when Fallout 1 kicked me out due the similar time-out. (you had like 150 days to get the water chip or 300? I don't remember).
I did not trigger the time-out in this remake, but I stronlgy assume it's there, as the main story contains the same hints about the invasion dates.

Fallout 1 is a bad example, though. Sure, you had to get the water chip within a certain time limit, but once that was sorted, you still hat quit a bit of main quest going on and were free to explore. Here it's over once the limit has run out. By the way; I never managed to get close to that limit, back in the days of the old version of the Blade of Destiny, despite exploring everything. Has it been shortened for this remake?

In the original I reached that limit , as I say in my OP the Orcs invaded and my game ended, at that point I never played it again.

I seem to recall I spent a whole load of time and time lapses waiting for a unicorn or something to meet me in a certain place at a certain time of day with a map part from what I recall, I never did see that unicorn or whatever, that's where all my time went I suppose :(

Actually from the start of the game to the end, you have 2.5 years of time which is pretty much. Way way better then Fallout 1, in Arkania I never feel a rush and planning your journey is the part of the game as well.

For example, in winter times you can decide to travel by boat/ship which is faster, instead struggling with the snow-covered roads which slows you down. The game provides enough time to complete pretty much everything in 1.5 years of course if you run around confused without much of a clue time loss is certain.

There is also the point of sequel system. After you beat the game, you export your save and then you can import it into Realms of Arkania 2 (Star Trail).
Although 2,5 years is enough farm up your chars on high enough level, removing a time cap (which was actually pretty common and is part of the story. And of course gives extra thrill into the whole game) you could then export OP chars and starting second sequel with such OP party would be at least unballanced.
But, HEY, maybe just for the reason that the game is still being patched, devs could take your point and put it on the list of future patches. Allowing you to play after you beat the game end export your chars.. is something what I believe is just a question of short code change. I am pretty sure I liked playing F2 even after I beaten Enclave, just enjoying random encouters. (not F1, F1 had level cap, so there was not fun in not getting XP after I maxed)

It is with normal playing nearly impossible to get the invasion ending. You need to wait _a lot_ of the time. The game gives you roughly 2,5 years to complete your objective. New players to the game need roughly a year of ingame time to see everything. If they dillidalli a lot maybe another six month to wait for winter to end. I seem to recall that a round trip, Phexcaer to Prem and back takes less then three month of travel (depending on how much you go by ship). The game hardly has any "fetch quests". So you can ususally just travel throught the land and do your thing.

For many, many years I did not know the game actually had a time limit. Because I never waited that long for it and just thought it was a fluff statement. Not until I got internet I found out about the time limit.
