questions
I love rpgs, but I am really struggling to like this game. I want to give it a shot. I appreciate all the hard works the devs are doing. I am having a problem with the game, and I don't know if it is something I am doing. When I go in a building a tavern or another building, the screen just sits there. What do I need to do to initiate dialog. I don't see any sort of anything to initiate dialog. Thank you.

Use the buttons on the right side of the screen. We will implement a control menu for the next patch that enables you to click anywhere on that building screen to initiate Dialog (and actions), but for now, you need to use the icons on the right side, below the Minimap and the Panorama View (which is basically a watch, showing the time at a glance).

Actually I would not wish to break your nostalgia but some realities about the original game:

-Every city was alike and it was more then possible to lose your way.

-There were no city encounters (they were introduced first in Star Trail if my memory serves right)

-There were several spells, talents and such which had no use in any setting or event.

-There were several negative attributes which had rare occurrences(as in checks).

-The game was a wasteland. It could be filled with much more events but so many space wasted there. After all, fully empty copy/paste cities never promoted exploring or gave you any enjoyment.

-The game was a fresh breath of air because there were no competition at that time.

-In old school games it is harder to spot bugs. How can you be so sure the dice rolls are solid, some skills work truly as it is intended or whether computer is not cheating? In the HD remake you can just F9 and see whether they are working as intended or not without needing to break into game.

-Also there is no chance in an old game a graphical bug to happen. 2D pictures, animations and cities who are looking alike, are far easy to manage then 3D environments with several optical effects, houses, swaying banners, vegetation, NPCs walking around, good looking market stalls. Of course Realms of Arkania was never a graphical game (since events are purely driven on text and combat arena) but every remake is actually a totally new game.

-Remake has the promise of additional content, strengthening weak points of the game and developers patch it in devotion, so we could play a game. For one I am grateful they are not just giving away modding tools and saying "Do it rest yourself" like Elder Scroll Games which are extremely buggy to the point of game/immersion breaking. And there is no such thing as "bug-free" game. I think, by now several major issues have been stomped to ground.

yeah, the original had also bugs... bugs that were never fixed. First in RoA were some glitches fixed. Finishing the original is much more of an pain in a ss than remake. But well, who would trust me, right?
Anyway, to trigger dialogues in tavern, shop or inn, look on the right-side pane. There is always set of icon-button... one of them leads to conversation.

Thank you for your responses. The problem I am having is there isn't a right side pane. Sometimes its there, a lot of the time it isn't. Thanks

Would you mind taking a screenshot of your problem? Maybe that clarifies something for me, thank you!

Chris,

I feel really dumb. It wasn't a problem with the game. It was user error. I read through some material and found out pressing the tab key toggles the right pane off and on. I press Tab and it comes up. Chris, thank you for helping.

Sorry, could have thought of that myself.
